I don't want to start a semi truck version of the Ford/Chevy debate so that is not what this is about. I am asking about general pros and cons between the various major brands. For example which brand tends to get the best MPG, which has the quietest cab generally, which has the most room, etc. Just general things that make one brand better or worse over another.

Between the two I'd go with the Ford. Last time I drove a new Chevy it had 50k miles and rattled like a tin can inside.
Zanadu Thanks this. -
Volvo for the big rig. Most comfortable and quiet truck I've ever driven.

Looking at new or used?
Resale a factor?
What type of trailer do you pull and how fast do you like to run?
I have a new Peterbilt ultra loft and for being a pig with lipstick it works fine
Fit and finish is decent. Resale decent. MPG decent but would be better if I ran 65-67 ish
I like the hoods but at the end of the day this is just a hammer in my tool box
They’re all starting to look the same so that shouldn’t be a big decision maker so I would lean towards resale. Fit and finish and service locations such as KW Peterbilt and Freightliners all seem to be easy to find a shopLast edited: Feb 26, 2021
aaronpeterbilt3787 and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I just read a post in the classified section and I did not want to hijack his sales thread but he was selling a single seat for $4,000 - To me this seems hard to believe. Do semi truck seats really cost that much and are they all the same or?.

Another thing
Your mpg and mine will be very different on exact same trucks
Your foot has a lot to do with MpgBean Jr. Thanks this. -
I looked at them but at the time they were Bose and selling to Boston whoever
I have a Minimizer Yada yada and it was just over $2,000 -
