Amazon Relay Workers Comp requirement

Some warehouses are crazy like that...but they are the ones that have the best rates. You can make a killing with Amazon IF you like to haul freight in a certain manner.

For example, if you want drop and hook only, solo, under 500 mile runs for no less than $3.00 a mile, you can find them all day long. Now, you may have to get a load into that market...but there are many of them. On Monday, there were loads coming from one of the Las Vegas warehouses paying more than 3 per mile going for 2k+ miles. You do the math. Is that good money for drop and hook, one way, their trailer?

I love being able to park my truck in my driveway, post my truck to the board with exactly the terms I need to run and then chill until those rates are available as Amazon will automatically book the load for you. No paperwork, no calls, no texts, no ########. Are there crappy rates? Absolutely! Is Amazon the only company with crappy rates? Nope.

I don’t haul cheap freight...for Amazon or anyone else. You have to pay attention to where the money is and make your way there. Amazon is one of many choices to move your truck around the country...to shun them is ignorant. You may as well tell all the 3PLs to suck it because they are all playing the same game...pay the carriers less and charge the shippers more. At least with Amazon, they display the rate and you take it or wait for a better load. I haven’t had to wait long but sometimes I use another broker to get me to where Amazon’s top rates are...like Hebron, KY, Las Vegas and sometimes TX...

I cannot give you any times because I only do drop and hook with them. However, you MUST pay very close attention to their pick up and drop off times. Some locations will not let you in to drop off the trailer until within a 2 hour window. Think about it...they are using the trailers as storage and have to ensure each location has adequate room, so they don't want a massive load of trailers brought in without some sort of schedule. It's all up to the warehouse manager...it's not always a corporate Amazon issue, but a local one.

I think that's one of the reasons some folks knock Amazon. It is frustrating sometimes to arrive at a location 12 hours early and they want you to wait. BUT, that's is not just Amazon...lots of facilities will make you want until appointment times.

That said, I have spoken to drivers waiting to be unloaded and what I've heard is no different that any other warehouse. Some are great and fast and easy and some have crappy guards and take forever to check in and get a door. Most have said they are in and out in under 2 hours though...with the exception of certain locations are just flooded constantly. That's more of a geographical phenomenon where Amazon didn't expect that hub to flow as much traffic as it ended up doing. However, I've been in Amazon facilities and the workforce didn't seem to give a crap about how long it took them to complete their trailers...

I have found that IF you pay very close attention to their load board and find loads where you can clearly see that the person putting together the trip is giving the driver time to get in/out and travel times, things go much more smoothly. Some folks will book a load that the driver is due to arrive in 15 minutes but is 3 hours away...then they complain when Amazon dings them for showing up late. YOU have to work within their boundaries but knowing what those boundaries are in the entire battle. Once you figure it out though, it's pretty smooth sailing. Not to mention, next day pay with no fees or bull**** that everyone else wants to charge.
