Hey fellas, I just bought a 2005 GD reefer that has a hub missing. By looking at it, the bearings didnt burn out as the inner races are still there and look to be in descent shape. Im looking to replace the hub, but how would I know what I need, of is there a standard on these? Its the newer style axle with the welded on trunions instead of the ubolt ones.
Trailer axle spindle / hub?

Call the dealer with vin. They can tell you what you need. A parts house might ask for the number of the ID tag on the axle.
Good luck -
You need to get those races off of the spindle and inspect for damage to the spindle before you know what all you will need to fix itDino soar, haycarter, shooter19802003 and 2 others Thank this. -

Ive been working on my own stuff for years and replaced many a wheel seal. Zip disk to get the sleeve off, no different then cutting the bearing races off with a disk. Im gonna get it all cleaned up today and see what we got. The odd part is that some of the rollers and outer bearing outside race are still there, the jam nut looks good and the threads on the end are not all mashed...
ibcalm19 Thanks this. -
I had a trash truck come in the shop one time for brakes. It had Dayton wheels so I had to pull axles and take the wheel bearings apart to get the drums off. I got the one wheel and the bearing nuts were welded to the spindle. Apparently at some point it had lost a bearing and really tore things up. You should have seen The butchery in that one once I got it apart.
Funny thing was it belonged to a regular customer of mine, he bought the truck used and ran it for a couple years having no idea what type of butchery was inside that wheel -
Might need the axle surgeon. they can put a whole new spindle on, then buy a pre loaded hub.
