I left Klamath Falls at 10am with a load. Although it wasn’t forecasted till 6pm. Was getting pretty heavy snow.
Decided I didn’t want to fool with 20 or eastern Oregon. I took 395 to Reno. Pretty darn good route. Spent night in Winnemucca NV. Now have to deal with snow to and through Salt Lake.
I would have gone farther. I’m on recaps limiting me. Next two days are good 10 hour days.
I got time. Don’t have to deliver till Monday morning in Denver. Sunday appears nice all over.
BTW... there’s a route that cuts just about straight between Klamath and Winnemucca. None of my truck gps’s wanted it. I suspect bad for trucks?Last edited: Feb 27, 2021

This reminds me of when I was young (mid 60's) and my dad was driving in Ca (Donner's pass) area over Christmas time. He was dead headed home to Az. He paid the road crew a couple of hundred if they would load his trailer up with snow.
He said at first they looked at him like he was crazy. He explained that he hadn't been home in 2 months & he was surprising his wife & kids for Christmas & thought it would be cool to give us a white Christmas in Scottsdale, Az. They obliged.
On Christmas Eve, my parents hired a Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus to come to the house. As they were leaving I went to the door. My mom tried to grab me for I couldn't see their car. I wasn't paying attention to them, I had heard my Dad's truck. I told my mom Dad's coming down the road.
That snow lasted for 2.5 days. My brothers, cousins, and I had a blast playing in it.
My Christmas wish came true that yr

All the years I ran out there running Lolo and Lost Trail and across 90 all we ever did was throw a set of 3 railers on the back drive axle and go. Took less than 15 minutes to get them on and be back rolling. Most I ever had in a day was 6 times. Lookout and 4th of July going west, 4th of July and Lookout coming back east, Lost Trail south to unload in Salmon, and Lost Trail back north empty to reload in Missoula. Coming back north empty I had to chain up on the road down by North Fork ID because I didn’t think I was going to make it up to the chain area empty.beastr123, truckdriver31 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Ive only used them a couple times so far... just bought them back a couple months agon wanted to try them out this year... hard to tell if they are good as chains. But have worked pretty well the times ive used them. Can get all 4 singles on in about 10 minutes and roll..bryan21384, God prefers Diesels, bentstrider83 and 2 others Thank this.
