Thanks to Dryver for his concern.
Well. . .Things seem to be moving right along. I recieved a call from Dr. (feel Good) Bronowitz. Apparently his concerns are that I will not be able to grip the steering wheel and maintain control of the truck. Personally I think I will be able to do that just fine. Secondly, he is concerned about any torn legiments requiring surgery to repair. So after our conversation Dr. Bronowitz is releasing me from medical hold long enough for me or my student to drive back to the Dallas Yard. Evidentlly, The medical reports he recieved from the emergency room were not explicit enough for him to get a clear understanding of my injuries. Dr. Bron wants to see the damage for himself. As far as the insurance goes. I called Great West to submit my claim over the phone. Stevens insurance dept. will handle the details from there. This insurance is a Workmans Compensation type of coverage so, I don't expect to be charged for anything.
I guess the reason I'm telling everyone this is because I am compelled to some extent to stick up for Stevens as a company of choice to drive for.
Has Stevens ever done anything to infuriate me and make me want to call it quits.Oh yeah. . .You can bet they have.
On the other hand, when Stevens gets it right and all the right things or dynamics are happening its not a bad place to work at all.
We all choose to quit or hang in there for our own reasons. As for me, for now, I'm hanging in there.
Going back to the yard now is going to be a killer. I just came off 11 days time off. My time off acct. is real low on funds right now.

JerryC, sorry to hear about your minor injury. A dislocated finger can be painful. Sounds like standard operating procedure for Stevens, get you to the yard, as Great West insurance is Stevens transport. And Dr. feel Good will find something that the emergency room doctors missed, to hold you at the yard. This is what I have heard from other drivers that were routed to the yard. I hope your experience is different, and please keep us informed.
I had to argue with Stevens over their so called workers comp insurance for Alliance drivers, as it is cheaper for me to be covered under my states workers comp, as a contractor, than it is to be covered under Great West. Besides it is better coverage, and I don't have to see Dr. feel Good, and be stuck in Dallas to recover should anything happen.
I agree with you that Stevens at times makes me want to tell them stuff it,
but most of the time, I am happy, and making money.

Hey guys,
Well to start out my four years are going coming to end for the CG. So now I wanna become a OTR. I was looking at Stevens,Cr England,Prime inc, and even swift. But honsetly i herd nothing but god about Stevens. If you guys have input at all to point me in the right direction to the right company. Let me known though I do not have my CDL... thanks guys -
Alot of people talk poorly of Stevens here on these boards, my recomendation is go to your closest truck stop and start asking the drivers who drive for them face to face. It would also give you a chance to talk with drivers from other carriers as well. Good Luck
Baack Thanks this. -
all training companies are talked about poorly on these boards. So many people go into trucking with their eyes closed, and only see the $$$$$$$$. They do not understand the hard work, the change in life style, the dues one must pay....
Stevens plans that only 5 out of 100 students will still be with the company in 6 months, 3 in 1 year, and 1 in 2 years. This holds true for the industry as a whole.
Shows how many people really do not know what they are getting into when they start, so the message boards will be filled with many posts that are negative.
I have had my gripes, and disagreements with Stevens, but I have made it work for me for the past 18 months, even with the down turn in freight.
Go and talk to some drivers, you will find them standing, sitting around truck stops. Most will talk, some will not. Find out what you are really getting into, and do NOT believe what the recruiters tell you.Baack Thanks this. -
right right... Yea I sorta know about how recruiters lie. Also to put it out there if everyone would go off opions we wouldn't have anyone in the armed services, I know that for sure, well thanks guys ya'll have yourself nice chrismas and new years now..

Well, heading off to Dallas for training with Stevens. After looking at all the currently training companies, Stevens seems the best choice. At least they don't have the astounding numbers of horriying posts that CREvil or many others do. Wish me luck?

Best of luck Smokr.

it works like this, most of you that are posting on this site couldn't make it flippin burgers # mcdonalds. the reason you failed is not because stevens lied to you, it is because you lied to yourself. many successful drivers have began here. myself included... it is a question of how much can you take? how hard are you willing to work, what are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve your goals? it takes alot of heart to do this, many of ya'll lack that.....
