wil-Trans Springfield MO

Wil-Trans to the best of my knowledge gets the same deal that all the rest of the owner-op and companies that sign on to the logistics side of Prime get... 73% of linehaul and 100% of fuel surcharge per load. Then they do whatever before it filters down to the truck...

 

Well now, I have to say that all the bad thangs said about wil trans must be true! I'm sorry for even questioning what you were trying to tell me. My first impression of wil trans came crashing now. Day one every thang looked good. I was willing to give it a try. Being in Florida panhandle not a lot to choose from. I had a date to go to wil- trans on oct 25. Ready to go! My lady was going to call with all her questions,With the hope for teaming one day. I also talked to trainer who want me to send cdl traing school records, DOT phy. long form, to go down to walgreens or cvs, are somewhere I could send her my blood presser,heart rate number. Which I never did. Because on oct the 18th, I was playing football with my family kids. Seeing that it was going to be awhile, Before I would see any one again. They all jump on me to tackel me. Just fun. But one by one on my back, with others pulling and pushing to get me down, and down I came. As I was falling, The littlest one end up on bottom. I knew that I could not fall on her. So I stuck out my hand to land on it. I landed wrong, I hurt my wrist, But it didn't hurt as if I broke it. So I'm thinking, this be ok. As time went by, So did the swelling. So I went to have it checked out. Before I went to wil- trans. The Doc said, There's a small hair line crack in my wrist. Now as soon as I know this. I called wil-trans talk to randy(some of you know him). He Said some nice words about being sorry. But not problem, That I need to get a docs release for my wrist. No problem. To stay in touch with him. Which I did by phone and e-mail. On Nov. 4, I had a docs app. to look at my wrist. He said two more weeks in the cast if your going to drive a Truck. I do agree, Don't want to hurt it in the middle of training. So right after the docs. I call wil trans to talk to randy,Vioce mail, Call me, I said. No reply. I call some hours later, vioce mail, Call me I asked again. Late In the day no reply. I e-mail him thinking, Maybe he out sick, Telling him that I do hope everythangs is alright, Told him the news about docs app..The next day, No reply, So I call, leave voise message to call me. nothing. So at 2 pm. I send another e-mail stating pretty much the same news, Hope every one ok. Nothing. Yesterday at 10:03 pm. I get a e-mail stating. I Quote " SORRY, I did not get you qualified for our program" QUALIFIED I was already qualified with a date to show up for orientation. I reply with a to the e-mail thanking he sent it to the wrong person are that somethank was wrong. I said I don't under stand, That I was already qualified and reminded him of thangs we already talked about. Stating the time line that was in place for me, That we both talked about.Mainly his ideas.Base on when the cast was coming off. So today I sent a e-mail saying that "first impression are a one time deal. With randy at the front lines, The first impression lefted a lasting impression. If you can't get the recruiter to talk to you. Just imagine being stuck in truck somewhere waiting on a reply for answers". Man! You know what I mean. I'm so glad I didn't buy that used car he was selling. I should have listen to you. Thanks! Sorry, All you wil trans guys out there. I know this is your favorite trucken company. But was posting here. looks like all the other threads are dead. So thanks I'M out. Keep on truck'en!

 

Big Wheels, Im an Owner Operator hauling grain wagons around the midwest..I started with SRT...a good "starter" company, but like most starter companies, low cents per mile (when I was there, dont know now), quarterly bonuses that never occur. Two years ago I would have told you to get in SOME company, put in 6 months-year and start looking for "greener" pastures but with so many drivers out of work companies now have the ability to "pick & choose" from a REALLY BIG/GOOD driver pool. So my advice, get in somewhere...hang in there, gonna be good days and bad...and wait for this economy to turn around...If Covenant is the only company that will take ya, so be it...You have to start somewhere and pay your dues..Good luck driver

 

Looking for those up days to come. Your right! Thanks agian, Its good to hear that someone who's knows how bad it is. Also be able to encourage someone not to quit with good solid advise. Thanks really thanks!! Right now the only one talking is covenant with a date of 12/30/2009. Which can have some hiden benefits. Just my postive thanging, That by 1/1/2010 the economy will take a turn for the better. Hoping there want be alot of just sitting around waiting on a load. Be able to that training out of the way. Be able to roll. Which I'm still burning up the phone and the keys trying to get in and start somewhere. Thanks for your time. Its just not going to be wil trans.

 

10 to 14 cents a mile for training !!! What a ripoff.....The few and I mean few training programs that were around in the early 80's paid those wages..... I have nothing against training someone for 15 mos. The more training the better. I have been in a truck from the time I was 14 here on the farm. And I still learn something new all the time. But they should at least pay a decent living wage.

Plus, what is this 1 day for every 7 days worked. These companies crack me up !!! I wouldn't work for that money or home time in any economy. That's not even minimum wage. NO WAY JOSE...just my opinion....

 

That's not what the deal is... it's a guaranteed $600 per week, or 12-cpm whichever is greater. It's not unusual for a team to rack-up well over 6000 miles in a week, giving a trainee more income than the guaranteed minimum.

Most OTR companies doing training pay considerably less than that.

 

Not a bad thing at all. The bad thing is the length of training.

 

Come to think of it the $2850 for training you is kind of weird too.

 

Just how much do you think you should make while in training? How many days do you think would be fair? If the truck ain't rolling the company ain't making any money either. Trucking is just like anything else you gotta pay your dues.

You say you've been driving on the farm sence you where 14 then you know that most guys that drive around the farm just bearly make minume wage. I don't know how many days I've sat in the field when the combine broke down only to make 25 or 30 dollors for the whole day. I don't know where you farm at but where I live If you make $400 a week driving on the farm you had a good week. So just sit back and pay your dues.....

I'm honestly getting tired of dodging the trailers of wheel-holders with 5-weeks of experience. There's a lot more to trucking than holding the wheel, and mashing the throttle. Be happy to get all of the training experience you can.
