Hi everyone, I'm a complete trucking newb but have been lurking on this forum for about a month now... It really is an invaluable source of information for me, and a great tool to getting the answers to all my questions about trucking! I will probably be posting soon about deciding on a school and where to work, but for now I just want to say "Hi!"

    A little bit about me:

-Born in Los Angeles, raised in Dallas.

-Excellent student in high school, not-so-stellar student in college.

    - I haven't finished my college degree. I want to take a break from school to start a career I will potentially love. I decided I'd rather have a job that I enjoy than one I hate but pays slightly better.

-Just recently started working as a pizza delivery man, and out of all the jobs I've had, its one of my favorites. I love driving around, listening to music, and thinking "I'm getting paid for this!"

-Favorite Music: Trance. I wonder how many other truckers share my love for techno, haha. Not many, I'm willing to bet. If you do like that type of music, I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you for reading this! I'm excited to get started trucking, but I want to make sure I make the best decisions when it comes to training and choosing a company. For that, I'm sure I will rely heavily on this forum, and I thank all the experienced and wiser truckers out there for taking the time to help out us wide-eyed, inexperienced but eager wannabes! Your assistance does not go unappreciated.

    -Trancemark

If it were me I would focus on finishing your college first. Trucking has taken a major dump here lately and this economy is not the best time to start. If you have any college I would complete it while the price is still what it is. On the news tonight they said that UCLA just raised the tuition 35%.

I just came off the road and I am trying to finish a 4 year degree. About 20 years later. Once you have a degree you will have it. Try trucking and get caught up in this and your classmates will think you are the professor. I want to finish my degree to give me something in the future. When you get older you can't do a lot of the manual jobs. A degree will open doors no matter what the degree. My options are welcome to walmart. Not going that route. I will truck local as long as I can if I even continue that. I just bid on a union driving job local because I am having complications doing the job I am doing now.

    Baack Thanks this.
