When I get a flat most of the time it is the trailer, if that's what you're asking. I don't have a way to explain why.

    Rideandrepair and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I run Chinese steer tires on the trailer and they seem to hold up a lot better than regular trailer tires.

When you drop and hook it’s always the next guy that get’s stuck with your flats. When you own the trailer you can’t leave it for someone else to fix it. Lol!

It's not finding them with flats per say, just road hazards or failing, probably do to road hazards.

Fleet has auto inflators, so it's not an air pressure issue.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Drop and hook trailers will always have issues because steering wheel holders suck. Best evidence is to cruise around a truckstop the morning after a fresh snow and take inventory of all the spots that have no footprints going around the parking spots. I would guess the number of operators that actually do a real pretrip inspection to be well under 20 percent.

:laughing-guffaw:Sorry, Dave, this one got me a chucklin'. You know darn well, company drivers couldn't care less about tire wear. That's the bosses problem. It just seems like your tires are wearing out faster, because you're looking at them all the time.:biggrin_2554:

Maybe due to debris near the curb due to off tracking?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Alternate explanation: You run over some tire-killing object laying flat in the road. The tractor tires pick it up from its flat position and kick it upright enough to go right into the trailer tires. That happened to me on my bike--front wheel caught an abandoned scraper blade and shredded a brand-new, <100mi rear.

Does this fleet put cheap tires on with low thread depth?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
