The Fords are just as bad. Had Guy was telling me what all they had to remove to change awater pump, or fuel pump, something that’s normally simple. Thousands of Dollars.D.Tibbitt, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this.

Water pump. Fuel pumps these days are in the fuel tanks. Tho that is usually $500 ($350 for the pump)D.Tibbitt, 77fib77, LoSt_AgAiN and 3 others Thank this.

That’s right!! I think GM started that. Cadillac’s have an acess panel under the rear seat. Chevy’s you just cut your own. Lol. Easier than dealing with rusty gas tank straps.D.Tibbitt, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this.

I got stranded by a bad fuel pump on my 95 S10. I just got a cab ride to the closest auto parts store and got one I put in my fuel line under the hood. It worked OK, but once I got home I got a mechanic to replace it.

. Yes but how often does a water pump fail? The position of the primary fuel filter is over the driveshaft which is just stupid there is plenty of room underneath to make it more convenient. Piss poor engineering and just plain lack of effort to be consumer friendly.D.Tibbitt, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this.

Exactly. The Guys contemplating buying another one. Brand new $80k? Maybe? I don’t get it. Total waste of money, IMO. It would be different if it were for work. But just to drive to work. Crazy.D.Tibbitt, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this.

I’m looking for a used Jeep Grand Cherokee. Found one that’s a 98 one Owner, 91 yr old woman. Garage kept, 44k miles. They want $8800. A bit too high. The more I think about it, I might just get it. It has a the new 318 magnum, instead of the 4.3 V8 the newer ones have. It would last Us a long time. Fuel mileage is not as good though. 12 vs 17. It only has a 3 spd OD. My 04 had the 4.3 with a 4 spd OD. It got 17 mpg. Same engine in my Durango, with 3 spd OD only got 13 mpg. I’m still looking. Hard to find a clean low mileage Jeep. Trying to stay under $7500. It’s mainly going to sit at the house, anyways. Don’t need a new vehicle.
