The dealer have hard time fixing the emission system truck. They have all the computers you need to read the codes. Places like Pittsburgh Power in PA are independent shop that took the time to learn how to fix the emission trucks. Not sure how many other independent shop do that. Most places just hook up computer and replace the part the computer says is the broken. That's the problem with the new emission trucks. Most people don't know how to fix them. If it under warranty ok the parts and labor or covered but downtime is not or motels. If your paying the repair bill is kinda crazy to just replace parts.

Well that’s why I asked. I know dealers usually charge more and take more time to do so than a independent mechanic shop would

Why would you want to work for someone who just wanting to start out ? A 1 truck operation isn’t going to clear a lot of money unless he has a good connection with a shipper or receiver if he just plans on running broker freight you would have to be in a desperate situation to take that kind of job all he really going to be able to offer is just pay and no benefits.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Everyone has to start somewhere right

You came on here to ask a question, but it seems like you already have your mind made up.Socal Xpress, Bean Jr., Ruthless and 2 others Thank this.
-
I meant that in the sense of if he wants to do this he has to start somewhere.

@ThomasTrucker, why don't you try using the search function instead of asking the same questions on here that have been asked 100 times before? Your exact idea is on here constantly, same questions asked, same answers given, OP doesn't want to hear them and gets mad and leaves. You know what never happens? OP never comes back and says we were all wrong and it was a walk in the park and he's now wildly successful. That doesn't happen, ever.
If your friend with brains and money wants to start this venture why isn't HE on here asking questions?TallJoe, Bean Jr., GoneButNotForgotten and 2 others Thank this. -
I have used the search bar. Didn’t know It was against the rules to ask the same question twice. And what does It matter who’s on here asking the questions. I’ve gotten good answers from members who actually took time to answer what I was looking for and I thanked them for It. I don’t know why it’s so hard for some of you to scroll past a post if you don’t feel like giving an answer.

So you’re just starting your driving career and your friend is just starting a truck owner adventure sounds like a great opportunityRuthless Thanks this.
