Strange or bizarre tips for drivers

This like many others are just out of date because of technology, I agree with tire chocks for adjusting your brakes, if your trailer brakes won't enough to slide your tandems you have a issue that needs to be resolved, like adjust them.

 

5 Hour. if that does not work I stop and sleep.

 

a quick comment on DRL's (daytime running lights), technically it is illegal to tamper with them, they are a safety feature. One of my new co-workers did this a couple of years back. The company had given him a new truck, he pulled the fuse to disconnect is DRL's. Few weeks later he was pulled in for an inspection, the inspector asked him why his DRL's weren't on (key was on, brakes were released), he told the inspector that he had pulled the fuse as he didn't like them being on. The inspector wrote him a warning ticket for tampering with a safety function on the truck. When he got back and gave our boss the inspection report, they told him to put the fuse back in the truck and clean it out, he was suspended for 5 days without pay for tampering with the truck.

 

Need a good way to stay awake? Hold a $100 bill out the window while you're driving.

 

Don't attempt to move your truck with your cab curtains pulled. Even if it's to just back up into a nicer spot behind you.

he was making a dang comment about silly laws and as drivers it went right over your 10'8" bridge above your baseball cap.

 

funny fact daytime running lights didnt originate for safety in the old days law enforcement knew you had been driving all night because in the day time drivers had their light on and forgot to turn them off and got plenty of tickets then 1 company got smart and made the campaign light on for safety. also in cold areas when you get tired what do you do roll down your window its just common sense. but common sense aint common

I'm not a fan of DRL's, or "Daytime Running Lamps" (not DDL's, although I know you are just abbreviating the lingo used here), nor the company sheeple "Lights on for Safety" slogan thrown around.

A 70' vehicle is pretty conspicuous.

However, in inclement weather, I am all about the common sense approach of turning your headlights on to make you more visible to other traffic. In many states, "Wipers On, Lights On" is a law. I hardly see it enforced, though.

I guess that's why most of those darn pesky asleep at the wheel accidents happen in the Summer. Or South of the tropic of Capricorn.
