Some dealerships just dont care or want the business! I wonder if International is a better brand that Mack? I dont hear too many gripes about the quality of their brand from drivers.
What happened to Mack?

International WAS a good truck but they are moving most of their production to Mexico . Here is what James Hebe of Navistar said about Mexican workers and quality .http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...&gl=us&sig=AHIEtbSfvppV0r738e_24DjnWgxbMJNvpQ
Daimler has done the same . They will even be moving Western Star production to Mexico next year . Who will buy a Mexican made Western Star ?
. Daimler is already running ads giving a $5,000 price cut on Western Stars .
Daimler eliminated the Sterling brand and expects former Sterling customers to buy Mexican made Freightliners .
Sterling had the same market share as Mack . If Mack had the sense to hire former Sterling salesmen and go after those customers they could increase their market share significantly .The Challenger and david07003 Thank this. -
You know, this is probably a good point
Around here anyways, there are a lot of Sterlings with the city/county/state and a lot of sterling day haulers.
Seems to be right up Mack's alley of vocational trucks. -
I use to run IH's fair truck but service just sucked never talked to so many clue less mechanics in all my life, I've had better luck with Mack being down 5 hrs is not bad I waited that long for a tow truck in Knoxville for my IH then spent 4hrs in a shop that had no clue what was wrong with the truck, patched it up to run down the road a little fartherdavid07003 Thanks this. -
To me, the Macks represent the most well crafted truck on the market. It probubly has the least down time of all of the them. But I dont know this for sure. The fact that I dont see the Pinnacle as a popular OTR truck makes me suspicious that I dont know something. Granted, they are sold at the same price as IH, Petes, Volvos, KWs. What really shocks me though is the popularity of the Freightliner line of trucks. They make me want to puke. Its almost like a band aid approach to running serious miles. There are just so many of the used Freighhtliners on the market that I say to myself who is going to buy them?

How about the older (2000 - 2002) models ?? How are they holding up and how is service/parts availability ??

I've had no bad issues with my 01 plastic radiator has been the biggest thing, parts most of it is on the shelf at my local dealer no problems with parts, best shop I have been in some of the 2000's had cam problems but if its not broke a lobe by now its either done been swapped out on Mack's dime or you got a good one, but it is wise to keep the overhead run every 60-75k
as far as the cab on the new truck being the same as volvo no not by a long shot you have a volvo looking dash in the old Mack cab oh how Volvo would love to use the exact same cab for both brands, I've heard they have tried convincing some of the long time die hard Mack customers with some mockup cabs they all told Volvo they could shove it if they had to buy a Volvo with a bull dog on the hooddavid07003 Thanks this. -
I drive a '99 CH613 daycab (the odo shows 657,XXX miles) & it's been fairly decent. The only issues that have come up in the two years I've driven it has been a ...I don't remember the name of the part, but it was a small u-shaped deal that was on top of the engine for fuel & it's down right now for two bad injectors and possibly a fuel return line. Other than that, I've not got any problems with the truck.Tuckster said: ↑How about the older (2000 - 2002) models ?? I'll second, or third, the issues with Banner Mack (Evansville, IN), it seems like they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Kind of like Neely Koble Freightliner in Nashville, TN.david07003 Thanks this. -
Does the motor happen to be a 427? lolgummy bear said: ↑I drive a '99 CH613 daycab (the odo shows 657,XXX miles) & it's been fairly decent.
