Greg Smith was nicknamed 'The Hatchet man'. This is what happened at my old DC, all set runs and day cab schedules were eliminated and everyone was put on a 5 day schedule. Some of the day cab drivers who didn't want nights out left. and some older set run drivers who didn't want to deal with the ROC retired like me. The plan was to hire new drivers at 38 CPM but sadly for them drivers stayed away in droves so Bentonville had to bite the bullet and announce a pay raise which was putting the pay back to what it was.

My old DC brought some set runs back but call them exception runs now and claims runs that used to take all week are day runs now so that saved them some money on motels.

Ahhhhh ok. I’ve heard about that stuff happening. I didn’t realize he was the “man” behind it. Thanks for the info!

Any insight on the road test, it’s it a auto 13 or ten speed you do the road test on, and it’s is city, highway and country driving or just one of them.

It’s a 10 speed transmission. And you do all three road course over the 3 days. One each day. Little bit of grinding may be passable depends on the CDT but if you have to stop in the middle of the road to find a gear that is a big no no...

Everything T.Rucker said plus drive 5mph below the speed limit sign on the Interstate, rural roads & other areas. Especially if you travel through a school zone during the morning or afternoon.

In 2013 I took the driving test and interview and video interview all in the same day. Started at 8am and left at 5:10pm. In this DC they make you touch every single lug nut and describe all engine and drivetrain parts you check during the pre trip. In the road test it was the typical drive on street in traffic, go over RxR trax, drive to a local Walmart and bump a dock door. Then drive back to the DC and back into a spot between 2 other 53’s. They let us get G.O.A.L. Only 2 times. No opening doors to look. Only go forward 3 times or it’s a fail. It was hella stressful day but I guess it’s necessary for insurance purposes and it was 2013. Maybe things have changed…
