Hmmm... I got a letter a month ago that Oregon would downgrade my license if I didn’t provide them with my renewed med card.
So Make sure your state won’t down grade your license because you have a state license not a federal licenseMattflat362 Thanks this. -
Here is the actual FMCSA link...
Waiver in Response to the COVID-19 National Emergency – For States, CDL Holders, CLP Holders, and Interstate Drivers Operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (February 16, 2021) | FMCSA -
Yes auto generated because the state wants the med card. It’s a requirement to keep a cdl! Oregon doesn’t care what the feds say.
all I’m saying is if your state controls your license and require something to keep that license you should probably just go get a physical and your med card.
not worth losing your license over. Because “well the feds said this probably” won’t work when the scale house shuts you down for operating a commercial vehicle without the proper license. All because you didn’t have your med card up to date. Pick your battles just understand your state controls your license not the fedsTokyoJoe Thanks this. -
FMCSA is pretty clear on it....

I didn’t know you could get a license from the fmcsa.....

DMV is deferring the cancellation of commercial driving privileges for certain individuals whose medical examiner certificate (MEC) expired on or after March 1, 2020, and was valid for at least 90 days. The deferral is based on the cancellation date of the person’s most recently issued MEC and the certification of driving type made by the driver. The deferral is applied as follows:
- If a driver certifies a driving type of non-excepted interstate and their MEC expired on or after September 1, 2020, and before December 1, 2020, then the cancellation will be deferred until February 28, 2021.
- If a driver certifies a driving type of non-excepted interstate and their MEC expired on or after December 1, 2020, and before May 31, 2021, then the cancellation will be deferred until May 31, 2021.
- If a driver certifies a driving type of non-excepted intrastate or excepted interstate and their MEC expired on or after March 1, 2020, and before May 31, 2021, then the cancellation will be deferred until May 31, 2021.
shanman and Mattflat362 Thank this. - If a driver certifies a driving type of non-excepted interstate and their MEC expired on or after September 1, 2020, and before December 1, 2020, then the cancellation will be deferred until February 28, 2021.

There is no need to deal with it more often than required, so might as well wait. Who know, it might be extended again, or not and then deal with it. -
Yeah I'd think that it's better to just get it asap than to wait until 9 months worth of drivers all show up on the same week to get it in a couple months.
Getsinyourblood and shanman Thank this.
