Ugh, my employee just did the finger printing - it took a dammn near 45 days for her prints to get back to us for her to take the test.

 

Really? I just renewed mine a couple weeks ago. You can go online and check your status and not wait for the notification to be mailed. The systems are linked...so as soon as the status goes live, the DMV will have it in their system. Mine was available in 3 days. Got my fingerprints done on a Monday and was at the DMV taking the HAZMAT exam on the following Saturday.

On the TSA website, if the screen on your status page has "Eligibility Determined" in green...you're good to go.

I just got my fingerprints here in NC a week or so ago. I did that first and will take my hazmat test at the DMV in a few weeks. So in NC it's fingerprints first then hazmat test.

Then click on "Find an application center" it's at the very top of the page on the right hand side of the page you don't even have to scroll down any to find the link. Click the "Find an application center" link and then put in your zip code and it'll give you a list of options in you area. Pretty sure Rock Hill has some sites you can go to. For me it was only a 1 day waiting time and then I go the fingerprinting done 2 days later, so it's not backed up for weeks/months like scheduling appointments at the DMV are right now.

But kemosabi49 is right call to make sure the order that SC wants it done in first.

 

I ended up at a Staple's office supply store in OKC...

 

They make these sound so official. But the one I frequently go to for HAZMAT biz down in Hobbs NM is co-located in one of those indie, mail-box and package express stores. The employee who does all the fingerprinting is also a notary and taking care of package and mail issues when the TSA stuff isn't going down.
