Yeah that was the read I was getting as well. He started saving all that stuff for a reason. Wonder if he was attempting some extortion or something.

I've been considering Quality to lease my truck on to. Mainly because they don't have an age restriction. I didn't think the money looked that good though. they say they average $1.70 for all miles but that's only for the OTR and they don't ay anything about the regional numbers

There have been recent posts about Quality Carriers reducing the surcharge for O/O's . I've asked around about it and from the information given by reliable sources I can no longer recommend Quality as an employer . I don't work directly for Quality . I work for an affiliate . If I was a Quality employee I'd be looking for other work . What they are doing is going to haunt them for a long time . To any O/O's for Quality reading this , I hope you guys can get them to come to their senses . You're the ones proving the service and I know you have good relationships with customers . If I was an O/O for Quality I'd make a written notice to give all my customers saying I would be leaving and why they should not expect any sensible O/O's to contract with Quality . Service will suffer . Rates won't be going down . Quality will be pocketing money that should be going to O/O's . I thought only sleazy brokers pulled that stuff .

I thought my company had some ratty looking trailers until I dropped my old 1984 tanker next to a QC tanker at Westmark in Ceres, CA. It had a 3 spoke wheel on the back right, a 5 spoke wheel on the front right, a chrome-steel wheel on the back left, and an aluminium wheel on the front left. It also looked as though it had been rolled and rebuilt a few times. It made my old trailer look real good sittin next to it.

I'd sure like to be God and see the GPS trail of all tankers running in the US to see who is actually running legal and if so how much money they are making. My take home last week after statutory per diem was almost 1300. Our shippers and recievers have cut hours and changed hours and generally call at the last minute and say "hey, you gotta get a driver to xyz, illinois in five minutes or they are gonna have to shut down the plant."
So what does my dispatcher do even though he has never driven a mile in a truck in his life? He says "go driver go" and he is never interested in whether any of us have any time left on our logs. Do I like doing this. NO. But do I want to be unemployed in this economy or try to find another company to hire me. No I don't.
HOS rules are a good idea. They are the law. They are a good guideline for personal maximums. But they are not always logical.
So if I drive 4 hours to shipper from home and sit for 8 hours getting loaded am I really gonna sit there for another 2 hours awake and waiting for my total of 10 or worse yet drive 2 hours legally and then shut down for another 10 hours waiting to be legal. Not while I have to pay back my student loans I am not.
A while back I watched the hearings on cable in which the US Congress debated HOS rules and proposed changes. It was obvious the elected leaders understood that GPS black box enforcement of HOS rules would devastate the profitability of the constituents that donated to their campaigns.
A driver should use intelligence and accept personal responsibility for driving outside the law just like when speeding. But, oh wait, nobody does that here right?

But if you don't take another 2 off duty or sleeper after unloading how do you log it ? Guarantee you won't fool an FMCSA auditor or accident attorney's investigator . -
