if you just have your cdl with no driving experience then you have to go through there school but come cdl test day you don't have to take your road test only the test with roehl. Have you ever driven a standard before? if your a quick learner and don't know how to drive a standard they will teach you just be careful one of our fellow classmates had his cdl and didn't know how to drive a standard and they booted him because the faced paced program for him here wasn't long enough. But as long as you get the double clutching and don't stall it in the middle of an intersection then you will be fine. There school here though is excellent just don't have any tacos for lunch lol i messed up horribly with my shifting when after i had tacos for lunch lmao so no more tacos for me lmao. Have a good one.

I hope you are doing good. When i did mine and trained students we straight lined,off-set, and paralleled. No serpentine. We went to truck stops and i would have them park or pull through...good luck on your test.

Day 12 cont'd - Spent all day backing, doing the serpentine, 45 degree back and blind side, straight line back, and truck stop pull throughs. I did very well today we worked with 3 trucks today instead of just 2 for the class and we all did alot of backing and did different tricks and angles to see what we could do to get out of the situation. My pre-cdl test is on monday with roehl but I have alot of homework I have to do and study for 3 tests(the driver's manual test, DRG test, and the safety regulations test). I was already told that I will pass my cdl test come tuesday. I'm not to worried about it, i'm more worried about this storm that is heading this way more than anything else lol. It was a really good day today we got to mess around a little as long as we didn't run into anything and we were safe about it. I had fun and I know everyone else did.

Seems Roehl has changed their program a little and is doing a lot of backing and different backing situations. That's a good thing. We only had to do 45 degree and straight line backing. The rest I learned from my husband and other truckers at truck stops. Maybe it's because when I was there a high number of backing incidents were occurring. One time a driver was backing up to couple to a trailer at a truck stop and a car was driving between him and the trailer and he backed right into it.

We were backing all day but using different ways to back in a whole so we could figure out how to get into it on our own. You can't always get help when your on your own out there. We have today off but tomorrow is pre-cdl day i'm looking forward to test day and then driving home to have some thanksgiving turkey :)

Although true I don't have a number of years of experience, I have been driving since 2007 and I know what it's like out there. I have been on my own once when as a team we did the company a favor and split up out in Oregon so hubby could bring another truck back to Marshfield and then when he was off truck for a few months because of an illness. Most of the time another driver will be willing to help. Like I said I went through their program and the 45 was the only backing technique they taught which leaves one unprepared for the crazy backing jobs or the really tight one. So teaching different ways is a good step. Good luck to you.

Can any roehl drivers out there tell me how the company is doing miles wise? Are the drivers getting decent miles?
