    Hello Truckers,

I have just graduated from Lansing Community College Truck Driving School for my CDL training and now I'm looking for a trucking company that hire's graduates. I live in Michigan where there are no jobs. Does any one have any suggestions as to where I may look. I was laid off from my job of almost 12 years back in January '09 were I started out rebuilding Eaton transmissions and also working in the warranty department. I have decided to pursue truck driving for I don't have a degree and this is a good way for me to make a good living to provide for my family. I love being on the road and love driving big rigs. I am registered on [spamming job site removed] but have not gotten any responces. I'm 39 years old, one trafic ticket in the last 3 to 4 years, no accidents, no felonys and a great work history. I have been reading horror stories on Ripoff Report and I am releived to find this site with positive feed back. Any advise or help will greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Joel Thompson

I would recommend making lots of phone calls to many different companies. Test the water and try your luck, its kinda like playing the lottery. You never know when you might get lucky. I called Swift and unless you live out west they aren't hiring. Central Refrigerated Trucking is accepting recent trucking school graduates. I called them yesterday. Western Express is also hiring, flat bed and dry van division.

If i find anymore companies i will post them here for you, i am currently looking for a job myself.

    Hey BigDan28,

Thanks for you reply, I just called Central Refrigerated and they said they are not hiring graduates or experienced drivers. They are only hiring for those that go through their training for a CDL. Does not make scene, If you don't have a CDL they will hire you but if you already have a CDL or experience they are not interested. They also have a lot of bad reports on RipOff Report web site.

I just got off the phone with Western Express and they said to call back Dec 1st, right now with the hollidays they have nothing.

I think were screwed until the holidays are over!!

Try ALLIED AUTOMOTIVE GROUP 6301 Wyoming Ave. Dearborn,MI 1(800)999-1336 Job Title: Car Hauler. Excellent Pay(avg. 500-1000 NET Weekly) Unionized(dont know if ur bias about unions). If you get thru and their hiring, I'd be happy to "Fill" ya in.

AD Transport Canton,MI 1(734)397-7100. Dry Van. Drove 4years for them, then wife passed(heart attack only 38yrs old) had to quit to raise 3 kids. Parked truck in Phoenix at a Pilot....they paid cab fare to Airport and paid air fare(to Ohio) AND sent me my check BEFORE payday printout AND included a $500 check for family sent Overnight Express Next Day( got it actually in 29hours, stinkin truck drivers anyway)

You really need to check out the Job Section of this Website....very informative. FYI....Nobody has a problem with Schnieder.....they just dont go there. Anybody that paints their trailer doors orange so the drivers know WHICH end to hook up to.....just has a r e a l bad training system....ya think?

Just out of curiosity, didn't the school have any kind of placement program? My school does, which is why I picked them over a community college even though it was more money.

The only problem I had was I wanted to work to Hard. I had a dedicated From Indiana to PA. and it was drop and hook on both ends and I would get in trouble for running to many miles in a day. Somedays I would run 700-800 miles this was when we could only do 55mph and they told me if I continued to run that way I would be terminated. Also Schneider could not run the Indiana or Ohio Toll road then We had to use RTe 30 and RTE 6 .So I got hired at Jevic in the mid 90's When it was privately owned and Running non-stop to Jersey as a solo and they loved it and so did I.

P.S. bonus played a big part in my pay at Schneider it was basically equal to a fifth paycheck a month but it is easily acheiveable.
