So when I first started my present employer, they put me in a 2019 Cascadia that had the lane departure system. First time it went off I thought something was in the road and I hit it(got too close to the fog line) Anyway, there was a button on the dash. You could hit it and it would disable the warning until you turned the truck off. Great. I know how to stay between the lines anyway so it is one of those"safety features" that can't really compensate for using your mirrors.
Flash forward to now. The lease came up on that truck and the company bought international prostars. I got a 2021 model and it has the same feature with a disable button. However, now it only stays disabled fifteen minutes. There is no option to disable until truck shuts off, nor decrease volume.
Does anyone know if these can be turned off at least until you park and turn the truck off, or is the only way is to get someone to hook up into the computer to disable it? I don't want to go that route, it's bad enough the camera that came with it reads the mph signs and tells you your speeding. Really problematic when your on the freeway and it reads the sign for an exit ramp.

It’s set to 15 minutes under the assumption that you may need to disable it for a construction zone which can have the lanes going all over the place.
After that it comes back on assuming you forgot to turn it on.
It is required by law to work on newest truck models, you cannot disable it permanently.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Dealers will not disable, reason if something happens and a lawyer finds out safety feature was disabled. Lawyer will go after truck mfg, dealer and software or manufacturer of safety device.
I feel for you company drivers. I have no NANNY AIDES. All that beeping and buzzing would drive me crazyColoradoLinehaul, NavigatorWife, Coffey and 2 others Thank this. -
Not required you can order the trucks without it still. Just ordered 2 2022 western stars no NANNY AIDES OR FLIPPING HOOD MIRRORS. No mention was made of mandatory yetNavigatorWife, Coffey and uncleal13 Thank this.

If you stay in your lane you won't hear it.

Figures that it would be mandated. Guess I can deal with it then lol. My take on all of these new features on vehicles, front radar, lane departure, backup cameras, while supposedly for safety, what happened to oh I don't know, using mirrors, watching your follow distance? You know common sense stuff. (Don't answer that, I already know)BigTizle, jason6541 and NavigatorWife Thank this.

I get stay in your lane, that's basic drivers ed stuff. I think they need to look at parameters though. Gust of wind hits you, might not blow you off road, but nudge you enough for it to see line and go off. Even better are the construction zones. I am already driving below the zone speed, but especially if the striping crews got crazy with painting lines, or they never covered up the old lines when the construction started, at least mine, it sounds like it's having a fit.BigTizle, NavigatorWife and Trucker61016 Thank this.

One more reason to keep my old pile of junk.

Your correct, however if installed when truck was manufactured. Then during an accident it was found to be disabled lawyers eat that up. Several dealers and truck manufacturers have been sued for something they didn’t do and have paid millions. International dealer. Rush Peterbilt and a few Freightliner dealers have lost big time due to ambulance chasing lawyersBigTizle, NavigatorWife and Trucker61016 Thank this.
