Not quite a year yet but on May 9th it will be one year driving a truck for Schneider one-way. One year driving a big truck period, for that matter. Outside of the pay-freeze and layover cut in pay, all is going well. I don't really layover much anymore anyway, so that don't bother me. The only problem I see with Schneider is the communication between the shippers, consignee's and drivers. For instance; was told to pick up a load at 11:00 and got there at 10:30. Once I arrived, I noticed a sign that stated they would not be open until 15:00. Once the guard showed up at 15:00 I asked if that was normal, she said Yes. I don't understand what is so hard about finding out if shipper/consignee has parking, if it is d/h or live ld/unld, or the correct hours of operation. Maybe you all can tell me that one. Other then that, all is well. I will be staying on for the term of my contract and than another 6 months after that to get the 1,000 bonus. Than, well not sure yet but looking to buy my own truck and maybe contract with Schneider. I have to go oversee's at the end of this year which will get me out of a truck for a year, so I will have to get the cobwebs out once I return than if the econamy is better by then, I will get my own truck, put the wife in it with me and make some better money.
Just thought I would share,
God bless all you drivers and your familys.
1 yr and still driving!

In the future always call ahead to confirm shipping/receiving times and ask about parking . Also check the BOL for delivery times .
truckinwva Thanks this. -
Thanks for the advice, I already know this, have learned the hard way a couple times but for some darn reason I keep relying on my Macro's. You saying that tho has made me change my way of doing things as of right now.
thanks again... -
THANKS FOR THE BIBLE SCRIPTURE.

How was your training experience with them? Lots of drivers warn against co. sponsored training, but it sounds like yours must not have been that bad. Can you elaborate on your employment contract that you had to sign with them?
-
I apologize for not replying sooner, been busy with Military.
The training was fast paced and not thorough enough but, it got the job done. I had to sign an 18mo contract and that will be up this November 9th. Than, I get to go back to Iraq for a year. Last I heard Schneider still is not training new drivers but, I just got back in a truck tonight.
Good luck to you -

Things may have changed but...if Schneider still had a flat bed division I'd still be driving for them. They were the best company I've worked for...but I've only drove for 3 companies.
I drove for Schneider Specialized up until 2006 (at least I think it was 2006) when Maverick bought the Specialized division of Schneider.
A person could do A WHOLE LOT WORSE than Schneider...and don't let anybody tell you any different. They are a good company, but like all trucking companies...they are not perfect. -
roadiez,,,I never got an email saying someone posted on this thread,,hope orientation went well and if your driving for SNI than welcome aboard. I have fulfilled my 18mo contract and am still driving for them, until the 28th of this month that is. Than I am off to training before Iraq or where ever they decide to send us.
