I love a good 2 stroke Detroit especially while under load with straight pipes. I guess 2 many years rebuilding them.Bean Jr., tommymonza, MACK E-6 and 2 others Thank this. -
I have been involved with a car that hit a trailer that was right parked with the truck on the white line on i94 before the airport. The driver was stupid because he decided it was time to get his ten hours in, while he claimed to be broken down because the engine went into a stop engine mode, it was obvious he wasn’t too bright to lie. the tow truck driver who moved the truck said it started right up, they moved it with no problems and the engine light didn’t come on, the car that hit the truck was so badly damaged it was hard to see what it was, parts flew everywhere when the guy hit the trailer, my truck was hit with an halfshaft, brake assemble and wheel.TheLoadOut, Deere hunter and TheGoldenCheetah Thank this. -
If any of us have had to park on the shoulder for a reason we deemed legitimate, then there's a large possibility that driver in question is parked for the exact same reason. No need to bag on someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes, and got both sides of the story.
I've stopped at rest areas to use the bathroom and tighten my straps. Then had to pull over on the shoulder with the rest area so close it was still in my mirrors, because I forgot to grab a couple more bottles of water from under my bunk. Humans gonna human. Maintain your lane, and there won't be a problem.Bean Jr., DoubleO7, Road-house and 3 others Thank this. -
When dealing with crappy railroad chassis and tires older than Methuselah, I'm constantly stopping on the shoulder to make sure they are intact and not smoking, sure I'll hit a ramp when I can, but it's not always practical.
The other side to this, are the inconsiderate drivers who won't give an inch to that truck on the shoulder, you have no knowledge why that truck is there or what the situation is, but most drivers just blaze on by inches away when they could simply move over, even if they split the lanes, or if on a two lane, slow the F downBean Jr., TheLoadOut, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this. -

Try finding parking after 6:30 pm while still having 5 hours left to drive,
Do you stop to get the last space a the truck stop? -
You're not going anywhere anymore if there's a problem.
The 07 cat i last drove shut down if the radiator was 2 quarts low..
It also shut down at 225*
Lose your belt and see how far you get with no fan. Possibly waterpump. Possibly.TheLoadOut Thanks this. -
I'm not moving over for all these Amazon trucks I see parked several times a day on the shoulder, not happening.
Have seen many near wrecks because Amazon is taking his break on the shoulder and some brain dead steering wheel holder at the last minute force's his way into the left lane instead of just staying put in the right lane.
The state police needs to be moving these guys along with tickets and violations.magoo68, Bean Jr., TheLoadOut and 6 others Thank this. -
Pay well, demand a lot for it, and weed out the idiots that don’t measure up.
Unfortunately most companies regard that as a potential HR nightmare though.Bean Jr., Czar_Zero, Sirscrapntruckalot and 4 others Thank this.
