I flatbed trucker who has a TWIC, went to an Air Force Base, and they wouldn't let him in to make a delivery based on something they picked up on his record from 40 years ago. I have a TWIC also, and I do have some misdemeanors from years ago & no felonies, and I was thinking that I may not be able to get onto an Air Force Base if I ever need to make a delivery. I wonder what crime was on his record where the Air Force denied him entry. Anyone know what would keep a driver from getting onto an Air Force Base, i.e. any particular misdemeanors?

They are super strict at some bases, the big plane parts yard out west is one of them I had to get a load of one crate going cross country because the driver my co. sent was sent away from 1st ck. where you sit at a table till you are cleared, it payed a lot more and was a light load rather than the load of copper l was on, but all bases are different?

It could be something in his background test paperwork like knowing town you were born in , mothers maiden name , also being born in another country will bar entry.
Vehicle registration and insurance is also a reason to not get in and felonys on record.
You also have to have a sponsor on the base hopefully its a officer and they meet you at the commercial gate.

Don't try going onto a base if you might have a warrant out either .
I used to haul gas onto offutt afb and they were always taking someone to jail from the gate there.

In 2014 when they had the shooting at NAS Norfolk they changed the rules. The shooter wasn't military. He was a contractor with a twic card.

Under the new rules, nobody with a felony conviction in the past ten years, or a misdemeanor in the last five for certain crimes, can get into bases with a TWIC card.

There is a waiver you can apply for.

Bases are divided in two now.

Operations side, if you have anything, I mean ever been arrested in your life, you're going to get turned away.

Housing side, not as stringent. You can be sponsored on by whomever you are picking up or delivering for / to.

But on the Operations side, you better be pure as the driven snow, or you're not getting on.

    Interesting Topic.
As a former Long Haul Driver with 53' Dry Van, I never had any problems acquiring access to active Military Bases/Locations.
I've some Misdemeanor Convictions (with minor Incarcerations) in So. Cal. from the 70's and early 80's that NEVER presented any problems.
Until reading this Thread, I was unaware of ANY DRIVER being "Turned Away/Refused Entry/Arrested/Restrained" as I never witnessed such action.
Last Time on any Active Military Base was in Alabama in 2013.
    CHEERS!!

Friend of mine was refused entry onto a base after running military loads for years. He had a 35 year old no contest plea.
