You know, I gotta say.... Its times like this that make me laugh and wish Id put more thought into my handle.....LOL. But now, I laugh my #$$ off when someone twists my name around to make themselves look funny....
Wasnt expectin any from ya, bigboy...
No no, you guys are the ones who aint gonna figure it out..... On the light issue, you guys are the ones making a big deal about it...Im just merely telling you to quit worrying about it and to stop making mountains out of molehills.
Good for you. Glad you had the nerve to tell him off.
I completely agree....well, except for the light part.
Yes, I am new but driving with (aw hell, if y'all wanna call the ###### things FOG LIGHTS, even tho they arent true FOG LIGHTS, we'll call'em FOG LIGHTS so everybody's happy) FOG LIGHTS is irrelevant.
Once again, when did I ever say this was about me? Im just simply saying to worry about other things that are more important like the fuel island issue, or how the other driver is weeving in front of you as he passes, or dip$h!ts who like to take up two parking spots at a truck stop, ect.
As to whoever it was a while back who accused me of sittin at the fuel island just to take a dump, (since in his mind I must be like that because i wont turn my FOG LIGHTS off) I'll inform you Ive done it a few times as with almost everbody at one point. But let me tell you something about it when I do it and why Ive done it. I drive at night. Always do, always have. I love it. The scalehouses are usually closed, theres not near as much traffic on the road which is awesopme when you go through a big city among other pros. The only bad thing, 95% of the truckstops and rest areas are always full of trucks that are mainly people who drive by themselves. Thats fine, Im not complaining. We do have HOS rules that have to be abided by. But on that note, If I gotta stop and use the restroom or grab a quick bite to eat, Im gonna stop in the fuel island cause there aint no were to park. During the day, it shouldnt be an excuse since there are many more places to park.

See you were exactly right BlackW900.

You don't have to... your attitude says it all.
And what everyone who has responded to this has said is that you and how you drive at night is an important issue. You affect the safety of all those who encounter you on the road. You want to "drive with the pros?" Then be one. -
Hey this ain't tips from new truckers it's tips for new truckers...
outerspacehillbilly and BigDan28 Thank this. -
I knew you couldnt stay away....
Oookay there, Dr. Phil....
What, just because all of those who have responded about this are all in agreeance that FOG LIGHTS as you call them are too bright for your weak little eyes?? LOL..... You know, Im starting to get tired of asking this but explain to me how they are too bright? I see the same lights every night as you do and I have yet to come across any that have made me whine about them bein too bright the way you all do. But no, all I keep hearing is, "They blind me!" or "They've destroyed my night driving skills!" or "You're affecting my night safety!" or whatever other excuse has been used. -
I used to work for an armored car company doing ATM's in the worst parts in our nations capitol, I had just finished swaping out the cash of an atm in N.E DC came out to the truck to grab a roll of receipt paper, returned to the machine and when I came back outside my driver had assumed I was in the truck and gone to the next stop. Man was I pissed. It took everything I had not to shoot him when he came back.

It has nothing to do with weak little eyes as you say...And, Regardless what you call them they can be irritating to oncoming drivers.
I'll attempt to explain it from my point of view...If you care! It appears that you don't but here goes...
You are not considering the fact that just because your eyes are not effected by the light from these lights that someone elses eyes might be.
You are not considering the fact that even though the lights themselves might not be that bright the combined effect of all of your lights coming at someone might have an adverse effect on their night vision.
It does effect my eyes which are mildly light sensitive.
Most experienced drivers know better than to run them because we have been out here long enough to be considerate of these issues regarding other peoples sensitivities to light.
Please try to refrain from the smarmy replies 'cause you're not impressing anyone with them.
I just did...
You might want to work on your people skills because most folks don't like being talked to like that particularly when that individual is new enough that he ought to show at least a little respect with regard to what he doesn't know.hs1125, Big Duker, John Miles and 4 others Thank this. -
I just don't think there is too much we can tell him right now ... I mean ... 0-1 year experience ... what's that??? There's a reason why newbies with that much experience are called the most dangerous people on the road ... namely because they have just enough experience to get themselves killed.
Maybe a few more months or years and he might be open to some advice. Got to admire his consistancy though ... he has stuck to his guns about using road lights all the time ... but the only trouble with consistancy is that it requires you to be as ignorant today as you were yesterday ... not good.
Cornelius, I hope you make it ... but ... experience is a hard teacher. It gives you the test first, but you don't learn the lessons until afterward. All us "old timers" didn't come by our knowledge from "on High" ... we had to discover it for ourselves after a journey that noone could take for us ... and noone could spare us from. Your journey will be the same ... I wish you well. -
To the "old timers":
Please get back on track with the tips, you are wasting your valuable insight on someone who doesn't want to hear it. However, I do applaud you for the effort. There are a few rookies & aspiring drivers paying close attention.
Your persistence does show how dedicated you are to advancing the profession in the right direction though.Last edited: Nov 26, 2009
Big Don Thanks this. -
To those that are paying attention here's another tip.
DON"T act like Corneileous when "old timers" or "veteran drivers" try to give you advice or help you. You may not agree with what they are telling you or you may not understand why they are telling you something but they are telling you for a reason, usually because they have made the mistake or whatever themselves and trying to prevent you from doing the same.
