I will try to give you some basics (I am the wife of a new driver). My husband drove up to Marshfield, WI and started school 2 weeks ago yesterday. Not sure what you all want to know, so I'll start with the basics.
They have apartments for the students. He got settled in on Sun. before school. Apartment is equipped with microwave, fridge, t.v. with cable, basic necessities. No internet connection. Had read some posts that school was within walking distance, but his apartment is not (not this time of year, anyway) so glad he had his own vehicle. And I think maybe they have changed accomodations, or have various ones.
Class is 7-5 five days a week. He only has 5 people in his class with 3 trainers. By day two (I think), they were out in the truck. Of course, each time starts with the pre-trip, which takes a little while. He and another lady (who already had CDL) spent pretty much the whole first week with one trainer in the truck, getting several hours a day of hands-on training. They quickly progressed to driving out on the roads and learning backing.
He was told they are opening a new school at their facility near Atlanta this May. Last Fri., they had a trainer for that new school come up. Not knowing Marshfield, he drove around town and found some "difficult" streets and turns and later took them through that. He gave them his perspective and new tips and pointers.
Saturdays have been optional but all students have shown up. Last Sat. my husband said he backed . . . and backed . . . and backed. He has also studied a lot in the evenings (too cold to do anything else, anyway).
This morning, he took his practice CDL with a different trainer (from a different class) and did fine. So, he has been out with at least four different trainers and has picked up something from each one. He said it gets better every day.
This afternoon, they went over log books and logging. It sounds as though the mix between classroom and out in the truck has been good.
He takes his CDL Thursday. He feels prepared. If he passes, he will complete paperwork on Fri. morning and then he will head home. Next week he will start Evo I. After that, Evo II, then on his own. He will be driving national (all that's available from our home location).
Sorry if this is too general. If you have specific questions, I will ask him when he gets home or maybe see if he can post.
    Good luck.

    kingfisher and zotoa Thank this.

Young gun, I just finished ROEHL driver training friday 3/29. The school is top notch. The Instructors are very good at what they do. Mine would constantly evaluate your strenghts and weakneses and would always challenge your decision making reguarding the situation to help you become the best you can. Dont go if you are not serious about it. They give you tons of info. I like that they leave the homework and study time for the evenings. It is a lot of work and it was just to #### cold to be outside doing anything at night anyway. I would highly recomend the training program to anybody.
