While I agree that the shoulder is not a parking spot, there is absolutely ZERO excuse for hitting a stationary object that is fully out of the travel lane.

Comes full circle back to the scumbag lawyers and pathetic legal system. Maybe if some of these ####heads with their nose in their phones got hit with a few big $$$$$ judgements instead then maybe they'd start pulling their heads out of their ###.

 

Considering just how dumb your average human is and the fact half of them are stupider then THAT.....doubtful.

 

Few years back. We had a lady run into a semi trailer and died.

Dude was parked on the freeway on ramp. In the dirt. Broke down. About 15 feet away from the white line.

It was determined the lady was using her cell phone.

 

I think this is a grey area thing. There are both ligitimate reasons and dumb reasons to park there. For any length of time. Anyone who drives a truck has/will end up there more then once. As for triangles....

Bout 3 months back i got caught between a passing semi on my left and a bridge on my right when a pickup dumped a log off the back and i had no choice but to go over it, Tore off both front cans on my trailer and damaged one of the rear ones along with ripping out air lines.

I had literally just pulled over before my brakes locked and had to wait several minutes for a clear spot in traffic so i could get out and went to access the situation with the trailer before i did so.

 

Do gotta admit. When it says emergency parking only. Having to pee is an emergency.

 

So it was obviously the truck drivers fault right? I mean he should have been parked out in the woods or something probably.

 

Isn't it always our fault?

 

I have no idea why this guy was parked on the side of the highway. He was there with no triangles, no flashers, and door wide open. I could see that door open as far back as I could his truck. He wasn't in a hurry to close it. Something tells me he was comfortable being there.

 

This will p#%s many "perfect" truckers off, but I have stopped on the shoulder to pee. I don't condone the practice, but I'm not gonna wet my pants and ruin my seat. Sometimes a guy gets desperate!! Yes, I turn on my 4 ways, and do it fast and move on.

 

He was probably a foreigner. They seem to lack awareness about things. I'm betting he's from another country as well.

 

That "pee" didn't come on in a half mile. I'm sure you could have hit an off ramp and got it done instead of impeding traffic or putting people in a dangerous situation because you don't know or ignore your bodily functions.
You're gonna do that one day and someone will hit you in the rear. You'll then br taking a pee next to someone in a small cell bigger than you that likes your junk.
