I passed the CDL permit test in two days. How?

My school gave us the driver manuals on the first day. On the third day we were to go to the DMV and take the tests. Crazy, right?

One month prior to the start of school, I had downloaded the manual, installed and purchased CDL Test (not CDL Prep), and purchased the $38 online-cdl-test course (TOTAL waste of money.) For a month, I read the manual, took tests, watched videos, asked questions here and on Facebook. I really tried to learn everything. When it came time to take the tests, I was prepared.

I pass passed all five (HAZMAT is later. Need TSA background first.) The General Knowledge test was the most difficult for me. Use the Skip button. You only need so many correct answers, so answer the questions you know the answers to first.

Why did half of my class of 20 pass? The person next to me said they hadn’t studied at all. The other day was the first time they had looked at the manual. What did most of them have in common, CDL Prep by Jeffrey Diaz.

So, I installed the app and took a look at the questions. Wow. They were VERY similar. Had I simply used that app and never even looked at the book, I would have had a very good chance of passing. My advice, use his app if all you want to do, or HAVE to do, is pass the test.

Oh. And if you’re worried you won’t pass, the school will try, ahem, to help you. Failure is not an option unless your pride, or English, gets in the way.

On the positive side, I spent some good hours researching and learning about topics to make me a better driver. Sure, I could have gone about passing the tests with the immediate goal in mind, but I didn’t. My goal is to be prepared, be knowledgeable, and make the right decisions. Do I over think? Yes.

To those of you who can pass the CDL exam after only a couple days of studying, good for you. To the industry, wow. We have some drivers out there who don’t know what the f#$& they’re doing.

On to the next week of my adventures in trucking. Woohoo!
