it was cracked when I got the truck, but I'm tearing into it this weekend. Any tips or tricks to get to the glass? thanks in advance for your response.

Ended up replacing all three panes with Lexan from Lowes. Less than $10. Pretty straight forward, the only catch is removing the plastic bezel. The factory tabs go into the mounting holes and it looks like they are melted in place like rivets. I had to cut the tops off to seperate. I just used super glue on the tabs to put it back together.
All in all, a pretty easy job. Now to send it off to have the pins re-soldered so the fuel gauge, blinker indicators, air buzzers, and back lights will work all the time.
Glad you got it fixed. Lexan will be fine for a while but will eventually get scratched up or discolor
A local glass shop should be able to cut replacements. When I took my speedo apart to solder the connector back to the board I broke the glass. My local glass shop cut me a new one for $10
