Have tech check data lines from ecu to shifter, connections, wiring under cab for anything loose or breaking.
Also, service your air dryer if you haven’t recently. Shouldn’t have oil mixing with air in tanks.

    Hi Everyone,
I wanted some advice on a recent problem I've been having. My 2017 Volvo VNL 670 has about 1.3 million kilometers on it. The transmission needed to be replaced so I got it done. However, once the job was done, the cruise control and high idle were not working. The mechanic looked into it and found that there was no cruise control fuse put in. He put in a 30A fuse and the high idle began to work again, but the cruise control occasionally works. What could cause the cruise control to only work occasionally?
    Thanks in advance.

Cruise control switch could have a short. Need to replace stalk with switch. Worst case could have a short to the VECU or defective VECU

    8withaV Thanks this.

Thanks for the reply, I got my mechanic to check the codes and there are no VECU codes. Maybe if the VECU had a short it would give out a code right?

What software program are they using to read the VECU? What codes were found?

I'm not sure which software they use but the codes that came up were, for the inlet NOX sensor (P220F93) , foglight short circuit (MID 216 PSID 5 FMI 5), and the wheel sensor for the 2 wheels at the back (SA 11 SPN 794 FMI 9) & (SA 11 SPN 793 FMI 9)

None of those will have an impact on the cruise control, but the P220F93 will shut you down. Did they check the egr cooler when the transmission was replaced? What was the cause of transmission failure? Possible bandage on a bigger issue...

I'm not sure if they checked the egr cooler, but the transmission fluid was not changed at the right interval so that could've caused the failure.
