Flat rate is good... Used to rent forklifts, $50.00 delivery/pickup in city. (60-70's)
Deliver to A. , 3 day rental. Calls, done, ready to pick up. Tell him if no problem, park and we get it next day. OK he says. Second day, rented B, 2 blocks over. Rush down, check over, load and move. $100.00. Watch progression and wait/rush... Be amazed at gain slow trucking can make.Dale thompson, Dave_in_AZ, Cowboyrich and 2 others Thank this. -
Had a customer whom was getting on in his years. He fired me because he had limited me to doing a part of his lawn due to flooding. His wife noticed that I was doing the limited patch in 20 mins. So he felt I was charging him 120 per hour, I couldnt tell him that he never saw 120 on any of his bills, as it was always $40 per mowing. Sigh, sometimes we cant win. Some one else's headache now.Last edited: Mar 16, 2021

And how much time was spent driving to and from his place?
Somebody has to pay for the deadhead time.
Hard to count up the times I've had variations of this conversation.......
It's a hundred mile deadhead to the load, and another 200 miles on the other side do descent freight. So to my reality that is not a 1200 mile and 2 day load, it's a 1500 mile load.over 3 days by the time you also add in loading and unloading time. Call me back when (or if) you have adjusted the rate to reflect my reality.Dale thompson, Dave_in_AZ, Cowboyrich and 4 others Thank this. -
The Tennessee beat down and cavity search.....
It was epic......
Weighstation FULL of trucks and outside vendors.
#1, flat tire. OOS. No, actually a low tire. 3 hours and $100 later to have some guy squirt some air in my tire, I'm rolling.
#2, turn signal wrong color. The cheap ### Chinese turn signals loose their distinctly yellow color.
#3, cracked windshield. Passenger side, not in field of vision. Has been @okiedokie for the last 2 years including ANOTHER TN inspection, but not today.
#4, leaking oil. My truck does not leak oil. My engine is dirty, but I go 30k miles and not add a drop between changes. My truck does not leak oil.
Other than that, they were fairly pleased to see me.Wasted Thyme, Dale thompson, thelushlarry and 14 others Thank this. -
Thanks to the Jack wagon Schneider driver doing a quality walk-around, I get to replace 3 hinges on my trailer door tomorrow. I own part of the blame since the breeze pushed the door further against his trailer while I was sweeping it out, but jeezus I'm pissed. In a hotel for the night, and enjoying some cold adult beverages.
Bud A., JolliRoger, Cowboyrich and 6 others Thank this. -
I'll raise an extra 12oz in your honor, having enjoyed a day as fine as mine.Dale thompson, Lumper Humper, LoSt_AgAiN and 4 others Thank this.
