Got my orientation scheduled for December 4th... I don't know whether to go though with it or not, so many bad opinions on here but im in a bind, got no experiance, no one will hire me, so Werner is the only place left...
Question to all Werner current/past employees, when you're doing training, are you IN the truck for the full 6-8 weeks or are there some sort of breaks? Or once I get in the truck I wont get out of it until I finish training?
Thanks all! -
If your new don't let everyone's bad attitude get you down. Just put in your time I say 1 year clean. Don't be a F-up keep your cool, and your driving record clean. Then you can right your own ticket ANYWHERE.
Rattlebunny, Jmurman, jtswife826 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Count on 8 - 10 weeks. Almost nobody completes in 6. The 300 hours is likely to be a little longer because once you complete the required hours it will take a few days to get you routed to a terminal.MADMAX683 Thanks this. -
I spent approx 8 months with Werner pulling for their Dollar General dedicated account out of Ardmore OK. Just wanted to say that from day one of training through the day I decided to move on, I never had any negative experiences and was treated in a professional manner with respect from Werner staff. If it had not been for the very physical nature (tough on back and knees) of the Dollar General account I might still be there today. I did not have to commit to a 1 yr contract with Werner because I paid for my own CDL training, so after 8 months I moved on to a different company. I was given the option of transferring to 48 states but the pay scale was a very big drop for a rookie (.22cpm), where as at least on Dollar General even as a rookie I made .32cpm plus the 15.00 stop pay and 60.00 unload pay which was not bad on top of being home every weekend.
So, for all those that feel that they are stuck having to start out with a training company like Werner, just keep a positive attitude,( avoid those drivers who never have anything positive to say), play by the rules and keep your CDL clean and after your contract is over move on or who knows maybe it just may be the company for you. We all have to start somewhere. Good luck and keep your head up!Jmurman Thanks this. -
After I got a divorce i helped my ex get into trucking because of some connections I had at the time. She trained with MCT and then went on to Werner. She was with them for many years and seemed to enjoy it overall. I still think its mostly an individual thing.

That was a very good review of Werner. To be honest I have not heard many good things said about them. I am considering Werner for my school.

I have orientation setup for Werner coming up soon I willll let you know how it goes if I leave before you I had to reschedule towards the end of December because I still have some things I need to get before I go, but if you ask me its the companies that you hear good things about that scare me

I agree. I feel that I have to make my own decision, because I'm the one who has to deal with it. I hear everyone opinion but we all have to make up our own mind.
