I wear my seat belt regardless. Being killed in a traffic accident because of a seat belt is very rare. The reason for such laws and warning labels is because there are a few stupid people who think bad things won't happen to them.

A seat belt law is just like a set a crossing arms # a set of train track

It's just a rule to keep folks from hurting themselves..which seems like a crutch to me....

Wearing one won't say you life, cause if it's tha time..it's tha time...but it does give you a better chance of seeing another day...

All I can say is I've never personally known anyone who was save by wearing a seatbelt. I've known quite a few who were saved by not wearing one. That includes my wife who was in two rollovers. Both times she would have been crushed if she was strapped in. One of my exes died a month ago because her neck was broken from the roof caving in. She was strapped in. My daughter got an extra 5 grand for that. Not hardly worth losing your mother for. I could name more, but you get the drift.

And comparing a street vehicle to NASCAR is ridiculous. If I had a cage I wouldn't be so worried about getting crushed either.

I only wear 'em if I'm forced to.

Should people wear their seat belts? Sure they should despite annectdotal testimony not to.No one can say "If they would have had _______,they would have been crushed. They did not _______ so we will never know the outcome if the transverse was true.

Should the nanny state be allowed to generate revenue by veiling their attempts at protecting you?Absolutely not.If you do not have the mental faculty to understand that the device increases your safety you should be allowed to suffer the effects of that decision. If you choose to remove yourself and your offspring from the gene pool by ignoring the obvious benefits,so much better for the gene pool.

Now I know people will wring their hands and say "But the children".Well if their parents are not intelligent enough to protect them in a motor vehicle odds are high they will suffer other horrible problems in life. When the government attempts to keep the feeble minded ones alive, they just force natural selection to find other ways of removing ignorance.

in the late 80's I was bobtailing around 285 in Atlanta I was NOT wearing my seat belt at the time..I was hit in the left steer tire by a 4wheeler trying to make an exit from the far left lane that we had just passed.. my truck did several 360's going up the gore between the highway and the exit ramp, 'what a ride' as I finaly came to a stop the ONLY Part of me still behind the wheel were my hands holding on to it... the rest of my body was laying on the floor on the passenger side of the truck...
FROM THAT DAY on "SEATBELT ON BEFORE KEY GETS TURNED ON"

I could tell you stories, but you would probably not listen. I have dealt with more accidents than you have, since I am a paramedic.
