Hey guys, I was thinking of putting dash cams in my trucks. Has anyone had any experience with doing this? Pro's v cons? Several years back I had a driver with a he said she said crash and I had to pay.

Also do you govern your trucks? use gps?

I am getting horrible fuel mileage and offered my guys an incentive to slow down, they arent really doing this. Any ideas to help with this, other then lower the govenor.

I currently have Verizon GPS + Dash cams at a cost of $50 / month.

I like them because it gives bread crumbs so you can see where they go, speeding gets logged and harsh turns and stops also get logged.

This is what is looks like.

    This!
This is what we have aswell. Plus you can hookup garmin gps to it and the drivers van get their dispatches through the garmin and by a push of a button, they are on their way.

Please don't let my boss see this. I get lost ALL the time. Between the tickets and being late. Getting lost I think would be the final straw. I bet I miss my exits atleast twice a week and I don't txt 2hile driving.

if i own a truck and drive 55 mph what would i save in fuel as opposed to slowing down in your truck and putting more money in your pocket?

When you have the outlay that the business owner has, you can worry about how much money gets put in your pocket from fuel savings. Until then, if you don't make enough money, just move on to another company, and be glad someone stuck their neck out to start a trucking company in the first place to offer you a way to make money.

You totally missed the point....if you want all the money, then start your own f'n company. Until then, you hold whatever steering wheel your boss orders you to, and you like it.
