Can i drive my dually and 5th wheel camper to dmv to take the road test considering its legal to drive a 5th wheel camper without a cdl. The camper is 14,000 gvw and truck is 14,000 so it technically qualifies for a class a license. Im just trying to get a class a to haul my excavator behind my dually on a 22000 gvw gooseneck trailer. Problem is i dont know anybody that has a class a that would help me bring the trailer to testing location
Cdl a road test with dually and camper

You can’t get a commercial drivers license by road testing with a non commercial vehicle.
Only way is to test is with a commercial vehicle and you would need someone with a CDL to ride with you to the test.feldsforever, BoxCarKidd and slow.rider Thank this. -
There's a guy on YouTube in Texas that'll rent you a day cab and a pup flatbed.
He'll even take you for a driving lesson before the test.
That's got to be the easiest setup ever to pass the CDL A driving test in.feldsforever, BoxCarKidd, LoneRanger and 1 other person Thank this. -
austinmike, reeferwrencher and 86scotty Thank this.

i have taken guys to get their class A with a F-350 and an empty boat trailer. No problems at all. -

You want a COMMERCIAL Drivers license, do you not?
-
Look, it’s not a game. The truck with the trailer meet the definition of a commercial truck. Yes you need a properly licensed driver. By using the truck/trailer combo to attain your cdl, you are using it commercially. What part of that don’t you understand?
It’s no different then the guys hauling rv’s out of Elkhart and delivering them to dealerships throughout the country.
