If that’s true, then it couldn’t happen to a nicer “shove a camera in the driver’s face” outfit.

"waffle house talk", might be a little fine, but the government is not about to take away Saia's hazmat authority. Now if Saia was a "mom and pop" operation, then this might happen, but it is not going to happen to Saia.
The "playing field" is far from being level when it comes to taking away authority or shutting down a company. I have seen it time after time.

    That's a good one!

With 1,105 haz-mat inspections and only 55 out of service violations I doubt they are anywhere near FMCSA intervention threshold. They are a whopping 0.1% above the national average for out of service rates on haz-mat and well below the averages for driver and equipment out of service rates.

Even looking at their SMS report, which does not show haz-mat compliance publicly, it is still clear they are overall a compliant carrier with only 1,410 total violations among all categories. Further breaking out the listed HM compliance and unsafe driving violations related to haz-mat there are only a total of 134 haz-mat related violations (only 55 out of service) or less than 10% of all their violations are related to haz-mat. It is little unnerving that almost 50% of their haz-mat violations result in an out of service condition but we all know that alone is not a true measure of safety. Some of the OOS criteria is a little strict.

Saia caused the loss of a very good job for me and I'm no fan of how they do business but it was just business and I don't hate them , still have a friend that survived it and they sound very safety sensitive so I doubt they are losing haz mat authority.

Wishful thinking, I know, but anytime Saia falls on their face I grin a little inside.
