I'll assume you're at a smaller terminal? Every terminal does have it's own life so you're right on your experience being totally different.

 

No I'm at one of largest break bulk terminals in our system. I know drivers from all over the country so I've got a pretty good grasp on how things operate here after 8 years. Of course things can vary from terminal to terminal but we're not worried about losing our jobs. I just laugh when I see a post where a friend of a friend's uncle told me this that and the other. I actually work here so I know first hand what it's like. I also have family that works at another terminal.

 

OD has two terminals near me. One is small and the other is a break bulk. Would it be better to apply at the BB for P/D to get a morning start time as a newbie?

 

I mean whatever bro I'm not arguing with you. I talk to this guy all the time and he jokes about how OD was running the hell out of them on extra board 7 days 3 years STRAIGHT NO BID in sight. If that's not your experience, great. According to this dude, that huge 300+ door terminal in southaven was nuts.

 

Lol....I'm not arguing with you either. Your buddy must have worked for a different OD. I'm just shaking my head at 7 days for 3 years straight with no bid in sight. I'm glad your buddy got out of this slave camp and found something else. I can tell you that when I'm in Memphis they're good people and all of my buddies that run out of there love it. Memphis isn't quite as big as my terminal.

Hmm... I'm going to assume you're from the Indianapolis terminal? From what I hear, compared to Southaven, that's one of the biggest ones in the system.

 

I applied for Old Dominion, Dayton, and Estes so far. Been driving almost 5 years, clean record and background, really wanting and been trying to get into ltl. Been applying for linehaul, it's what I want to do. And the money would definitely help change my fiance and my life for the better. Not to mention being able to actually have a career and a place I can say I enjoy working for... Just really wish these places would call..

Thought about applying for xpo maybe as well.
