In my efforts to gain some tx/rec on my cascadia i have been dabbleing in the idea of putting some metal like tape under the hood to hopefully act as a metal surface for signal travel

Anyone out there tried it and have any success...
Or would i basically stick long strips under the hood or specific length to allow for the correct wave length stuff..

Just thinkin outside the box here..

You can try it, but personally I don't think it'll make one bit of difference. The ideal thing to do with a mobile antenna, is to have the metal (ground plane) underneath the antenna, in order to get the best performance out of the antenna. Unfortunately this isn't always possible.

Yeah i know it supposed to be under ant but im really reaching for the idea of maken the hood more metalic like in holes of a better signal push off and a lil bit bigger ear...
Sorta like a megaphone to help signal get out and like culping you hand behind your ear for recieve..
A roll of some good metal like tape aint expensive so i may tey it in a few weeks when the roads clean up and temps increase some....
Cant thjs weekend cause i gotta date and i gotta spruce up me arse..lol

Actually thought about an aluminum foil pie plate under antenna..Then if it was big enough i couldnt open door with out hittin hood but if its big or small it would be to flimsy and bend in the wind..

Well I don't think aluminum foil or pie pan is going to make much of a difference in performance. But you can give it a try. It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. Ha.

I removed my 5 year old factory antennae mounts and soaked in penetrating oil over the weekend when I had Cascadia. This improved the ground, as i measured previously with multimeter, they get corrosion of sorts in them.
The metal tape might work,,you could also double up the foil on your cap:D

Nkt once have i seen anyone soak their antenna..Now seeing you are aware of the "foiled cap" i would rather you be the only one wearing one...Tks for the suggestion anyways..
