Reamed and sleeved works when properly done. I thank Detroit actually has tooling and parts to do that job.

A company I worked with had a reamer to run in those holes. Believe it had a set up jig for proper location.
Then special bushings with shoulders on both ends of them. One man did them all. He would not talk about it or want company. They worked and no one else touched that stuff. Think it was Detroit tooling but maybe not.
If the wear is to far gone it is over for that housing. Maybe the different type compressor deal would work if it is not leaking oil. Never saw that done.

    Have you tried brass bolts?

I had a similar problem years ago and that fixed it.

I didn’t know it was still a problem in 2011. I just replaced my front covers with good used ones and a new bracket. So far so good. Now I can’t let the bolts get loose, that’s how it starts. First time one breaks, I’m going to drill it out and sleeve them. Don’t know which bracket you have. I found this style. Looks like it uses a different inner front cover. It the same as mine, except for the extra 4 bolts through the top. Seems like you should have this type, since it’s shown as being 2002 and up. Some claim it’s due to a worn out damper, causing vibration. The old ones had the problem while still under warranty. They used to have the upgrade bushing kits. I haven’t been able to find one anywhere.

If the engine has over 500,000 miles on it, the vibration dampener is over due to be changed.

That great. Can’t believe I’ve never seen one. I’ve searched everywhere in the past. I don’t need it now, still good to know.
