On an overall basis, which trailer type will bring consistent business to its owner, if one were to pick only one trailer for life, what would that be for North America? Thanks

Dry van seems good for consistency. Otherwise reefer since everyone eats.

but with a reefer he can do both. We have all reefers but pull dry van loads all the time. So with a reefer you can do both.

True but not ALL dry loads can go in a reef. Empty beer/soda cans for example. They use every bit of space. Generally hi cube loads can't go in a reefer. I see lots of loads posted for dry saying no reefer or roll up doors for that reason.

Also, it tends to happen where shippers who are used to vans end up damaging reefers.

Hopper bottom. Grains still have to get from the farm to the food processors no matter how the economy is doing.

Hoploads.com is the only dedicated hopper board I know of. I think some others might have a few hopper loads. Think you really just have to find a dedicated broker for hoppers.

I think the original question is to broad. It can vary depending on your location and what you want to do or go. Sure dry, reefer, flatbed, tanker. Those are some of your normal everyday things. But there's also some niche areas of trucking that can keep a guy busy and well fed.

For life? I'd like to have all types parked on my yard and then select and use accordingly.

I'd do Power only for Landstar, Schneider or JB Hunt until you figure it out for yourself.

If you don't know but are too anxious to start, dry van would be best forgiving.
