OR, perhaps you are just a supertrucker at heart ! ! One of the chosen few.... you might have diesel pumping through your veins... giving you the constant urge to run a truck !!! Whatever your choice is dont make it one you will regret......

Ah the sweet smell of diesel soaking into your brand new gloves, the rumble of a sweet running yella motor, the feeling of pure power vibrating through the seat into YOUR hands what more could you ask for except do you have another quarter for this video game?

Seriously you need to talk to the wife and decide what you want and if she wants to remain married to you if you are going OTR while she stays home. Or better yet maybe she can go with you although in MHO trucks are made for only one woman, one dog, a gun or two, and 2 pillows.

Burkey and luvmyhubby.. you said a mouth full! I couldnt of said it better myself.. Not every driver can be an office worker and not every office worker can be a driver. Its all in what suites your needs. I will be going back into the driver seat after 12 yrs.. I have heard it from both ends about the industry...But those who know my personality the best dont even have to ask why...
Nothing is set in stone in life so go out and explore your options..if you're not happy change..if your happy keep doing it!

I feel the same as luvmyhubby.Basically it all boils down to what makes you tick.Do you feel caged or just bored,if it is just bored go find a hobby or make time on your days off and go out with the wife.you don't have to spend a huge chunck of money, you could just go to a park, ride bikes, sit and talk.there are alot of things to find out about each other you may not know or may have forgotten. If you feel caged well then it is time to sit down and discuss the problem and find a workable solution.I know me ,even though I love my kids to death they drive me NUTS when I am home more than 4 days.I need to be alone with just me,the CB and my music.

When I,m here I want to be there, when I'm there I want to be here. There are days when that's the only thing on my mind.
But then I crest the hill and just around the bend, down in the valley you see the lake without a ripple on it, the sun just coming up over shoulder. And for a split second you swear there is no better place on earth then right here right now. There are so many places just like this one, that so many people never get to expierence, driving to the same place to do the same thing day after day. I worked a factory job for just over 20 years and never got paid to see things like that. I feel that the age we live in now, so many people see the world thru a computer screen. Or a big screen T.V. Which is a shame. But to each thier own. Some people just don't know what they're missing.

I thought I was the only one, I drove for 5 years, and some days I wanted to pull my hair out. Now Im making good money and home everynight, but its mundane, I miss driving, and plan on going back to it as soon as #1 son gets settled in boot camp.

Exactly Gladiator.. People are so use to routine.. I hate it!! I have always been the rebel.. Believe it or not hitch hike all across America when I was 16..(Yes back in the day things were safer..but where they?? ) I always followed my own path. Never fit in at the office with the women and thier new shoes and handbags.. crawled up under a truck hood before I even knew how to drive. My first experiance driving a semi was for Mayflower..before I was even 18 (poor guy I was with LOL). Thats when the bug bit me.. and ever since I have been hooked.
Yes your bed at home is warm..yes the big screen is great to watch..yes summer fairs and all the fun stuff we leave behind can be missed.. but like you said.. How many people get to see what we see? Hear the crazy things we hear? Talk to sooooo many people and remember them?
I did the back to work, home again, back to work , home again for 12 long dull years...going the same path..doing the same things, seeing the same faces that everyday piss me off!! SO FOR ALL THE HATERS!
It is what it is.. but I hope to GOD I never have to see a cubical again!!
