agreed........ how long does it take to turn lights on and walk around truck and kick tires? Guess my time isnt that valuable, if i have a tire down or a light out, i want to know about it........:biggrin_2552:

A driver and a truck are a symbiotic relationship a little time spent taking care of it and it will take care of you but I personally hate down time as nothing is more exhausting then waiting

That was total cost for the repair, not just for the transmission it's self.

    KW for sure.

I've had the pleasure of owning/driving both makes. KW has slight edge.

The melted piston was on an N14. Due to a design change we couldn't just buy a single cyl and put it back together (thanks Cummins). They changed the piston bowl design so they all had to be done = complete overhaul with under 400k miles. Could have went to a junkyard but I'm not just patching things up 1/2 way. Also could anyone tell me how a bearing failure could be prevented with PM? Axle was full of oil along with transmission, not sure what else could have been done. We have a good mechanic but you need to weigh your options. Do you pay 1k more at a dealer to have a reman transmission swapped out. Or do you pay 1k to have the truck towed back to your shop to install the same transmission? This isn't my first rodeo.:biggrin_25522:
