Looks like that... "thing" (can't write a more appropriate identifier without a visit from the mods), didn't get beat quite good enough.
Good for dad though, no charges. Florida is looking more appealing every day.

Good point, coolant breaks down after awhile. First thing I do when getting a new to me piece of used equipment is change all the fluids & filters, coolant, oil, along with the trans and pumpkin oils, often the hoses and belts too. Grease is cheaper than repairs. Last thing I want is to be sittin roadside or doing hay and blowing a line or hose. Also, refill coolant mix with distilled water.

I've also got an issue with the range selector grinding and not always going to high range that I have to look into.
It's cooler out today and temps are staying around 200 on the gauge. No ac on today either.singlescrewshaker, clausland, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this. -
First thing to check is the O-rings at the bottom of the range selector. They get dirty and air doesn’t move properly.singlescrewshaker, clausland, jamespmack and 3 others Thank this.

You mean at the switch? It's a meritor which is electronic at the switch. It's doing something because when it doesn't go into high and I flip back to low it grinds going back to low so the electric side of things is working. I have to figure out how it operates on the trans and go from there. Could be an o ring leaking there or whatever mechanism that it moves us hanging up. Probably also needs a synchro to stop the grindingSethgipson1981, singlescrewshaker, jamespmack and 4 others Thank this.

Hey... I love you guys creative sense of humor... it offsets my lack thereof....

Sorry my English grammar phrase construction is not very American...

So you don't have an air line from the switch down to the transmission?
If that's the case then yeah I'd check the O-rings at the transmission, cause what you're describing sounds like an air flow problem, and dirty O-rings would be a likely issue.
Since it's electronic, maybe put a voltmeter on the switch and make sure you're getting full power there, and to whatever mechanism activates the range selector in the transmission. Check any wiring for brittleness, loose connections or corrosion.singlescrewshaker, clausland, jamespmack and 3 others Thank this. -
Lol. When I read your posts I read an accent into it for some reason.dwells40, singlescrewshaker, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this.

When setting still I hear it vent air when I flip it up to high so the electrical side is for sure working. It may not be anything to do with the switching its self but rather the bad synchro keeping it from going into high.
Just stopped and checked the upper radiator hose temp with the gun. It's reading about what the gauge says so the gauge is likely not wrong. I'll flush and refill and maybe that'll help.
Did notice an oil leak from behind the fan hub so that's added to the list of things to take care of.singlescrewshaker, jamespmack, Eldiablo and 2 others Thank this.
