No time like the present. They aren't getting any cheaper. Besides, you know the best thing about money? You'll get more of it tomorrow.

Well.........it could really go either way.
All jokes aside. There are alot of guys I work with that I have no clue what they are saying half the time. Cultural differences to say the least.
I get what your saying though, just having fun.cke, singlescrewshaker, Eldiablo and 3 others Thank this. -

I get lost a lot in what folks talk because I don't have the cultural background... even though I have been living in the USA since 1992... I never exposed myself much, never went to college in the USA, don't watch American tv shows, so forth and so on...
Here in Rio, some people say I don't talk like them and don't sound like them, even though I was born and raised in the city of Rio de Janeiro. I guess this is what it is to be an expat...jamespmack, Gatordude, dwells40 and 8 others Thank this. -
Yeah, that is the hard thing about being an expat. Usually you tend to stick with what is familiar. Usually in expat villiages aswell. I ran into the same issue. Stuck between 2 worlds.
My wife is in a similar circumstance. She just got her us citizenship about 3 years ago now. We have been and lived in alot of places. I get bored easy and like to travel. Now that we have kids, we do somewhat less of it. Her dad lost his medical awhile back, so now we have to fly commercial. Flying commercial sucks enough as is, let alone with a bunch of kids. I can't really afford a plane big enough for all of us that I actually would want to own. So...commercial it is. I fly alot to. In fact I'm typing this from dfw c24.....lol
Edit: as far as American media is concerned, your better off without. We don't watch TV at all. We do watch movies though. It's all garbage and I have better things to do with my time.dwells40, cke, Isafarmboy and 6 others Thank this. -
Where is your wife originally from, sir?
Since when I arrived in the USA that I decided to stay away from Brazilian communities...
My experience with Brazilians is that they are very selfish kind of people, with no sense of solidarity or community and inconsiderate and disrespectful of each other..
Instead of helping each other they constantly try to take advantage of each other... Can't count on them for help cause they are unreliable, untrustworthy, dishonest...
And what upsets me the most is that so many go to America but never assimilate the American culture, don't learn the language, don't know American history... and talk bad about Americans... I can't stand that...jamespmack, Gatordude, dwells40 and 5 others Thank this. -
Well, the assimilation thing is more a sign of the times and definitely not limited to Brazil. When my great grandparents came here is was for a better life. Where they came from sucked and that is why they are here. I was raised by her and I don't speak a lick of polish. I don't think I've ever heard her speak it much if at all, even though that was her 1st language. I work and am around alot of Mexicans and they are prolly the worst at that. my wife was from Singapore and also an Australian citizen. We decided that we are never going back to either. So about 4 years ago we got rid of both places. I've been to and through Brazil. However not for very much time. So I can't really speak to the people there to compare. We looked seriously at expating permanently last year. Things are getting so expensive here and I don't care for the direction the country has been heading. However, we are still here. Who knows what the future holds.
