Don't take offense because this is just my opinion. That is the wrong attitude. You can buy the tools and put it in over a weekend pretty easy and still be money ahead. Not only that, but if you didn't want the tyranny jack when it was all said and done (don't know why you wouldn't want it) you could turn around and sell it. Now you have even less money in the whole thing.....by alot! Honestly, it isn't hard to do at all. Heck with the money saved, you can pour a pad to park on and the tools to do it..no joke. Plus you get to buy tools. This is a plus in my book. Seriously though. It isn't hard and you will save alot doing it yourself. In the end though, it's your show and you have to do what you feel is right.

Yada Yada Yada that's truckin Yada Yada Yada lol

With any luck it won't take long for me to get up and running how I want and having everything back to tip top shape.

It was quite a bit cooler today so coolant temps never really got above 200. I also had opened the heater valves not that that shouldve made a difference. I'll flush it this weekend along with try to diagnose my range issue further. See if I can find a manual or something that can tell me how it works inside and pull it out and see if its gotten something wrong with it.

I think big trucks are actually easier to work on than pickups.

I got a Eaton reman 10 speed for sale in the classifieds with less than 400k on it for sale with no core. 2 bell housings to chose from.

Look on ebay for manuals. They have it all. Book, cd, pdf....take your pick. Usually a pretty fair price. I usually buy both the book and the cd for anything now. I use the book in the shop and the cd on the road.

No offense taken. And yeah it's not an I can't do it it's more of an I don't want to do it in the gravel where all of my tools are. I could go to my uncle's where there's a nice big shop with a concrete floor but the most unorganized tool setup I've ever seen. But I may just bite the bullet and do it. Find a tranny jack and all that and get a trans and go to town.

I meant to find the data tag on my trans while I was under it earlier but got side tracked bolting a fuel line bracket down to get a fuel line from resting on one of the range solenoid pigtails and forgot to get a pic of the tag I had found.

Buy 2 sheets of Plywood and put under it. Works great in the driveway. I've done it several times. Plywood, not osb! When it's done, you now have 2 sheets of ply for around the house. Win!
