They can wake you up but it's your choice whether you go to the window or not.

I wouldn't, and if they insisted and broke in or something ridiculous I'd inform the fool that I have covid, anthrax, terminal gonaherpacyphiaids ,wtfever to get him to gtfo of my unpaid vacation time.

Anthrax, good, stick by that and watch as you get quarantined by the CDC, then charged with communicating a threat when shown that you lied, and in the current environment probably domestic terrorism.

There is no way of knowing why you are being awakened until you communicate with the officer, there can be valid reasons other that an inspection. Last week I and everyone else at a small stop in Kansas were awakened around midnight to warn us of a series of tornadoes which were nearby and might head our way. A couple years ago we were all awakened due to a bomb threat and ordered to leave the premises. They did forcibly enter trucks to ensure no one was inside, finding of course drivers that refused to answer when the cops knocked and identified themselves as law enforcement and that there was an emergency situation. Those that still refused to leave were taken away forcibly for their safety and for refusing a lawful command, resisting, and they even threw in trespassing since they were ordered off the private property. Pick your battles wisely, unless you're one of those drivers that "all the cops know not to mess with" .... yeah, heard that one way too many times.

That's exactly what I was doing. I still have another hour left on my 10-minute break and I was parked at a rest area where I was the only truck here anyway I wasn't illegal. What year did each other for a little bit but it wouldn't going to get any better if I kept on. I would have been in a ditch somewhere or locked up for a couple of weeks trying to figure out how to get home. So I basically spent nine hours off-duty got up and go to the bathroom spent an hour with him and got 10 more hours off duty because this thing would not turn on. My company is not a trucking company they build trailers and we ship them not for hire. I found out a couple of hours ago that the owner of the company who is the person that set up the eld's for this place is in the Indianapolis watching his old College team play basketball. I believe this OTR stuff for me just ended today. I don't like getting an argument and I don't like being woke up and that's kind of what this job is done turned into. Nearly any time you see a State Trooper or. Officer you have to start spending for your life kind of thing.

What ELD do you have? If you already said then sorry, I must have missed it. Sounds like you work for a smaller outfit that doesn't have all this figured out.

We are using the keep Truckin Eld. The company I work for only runs two big trucks and for HotShots delivering their products to Canada and the US all except for California because who in the hell wants to go to California lol. Sorry if that offends any of the snowflakes. Sorry I did not text back in time I do not have internet service in Canada. When I got to the Border I was in line to cross and we drive a Hotshot into Canada so we have to stand up so we can get to the border patrol agent. I took my seat belt off grab my briefcase got my Ace manifest paperwork out turn back around in another New York state trooper was standing at my door full me out of line and done another inspection I even gave him the inspection of the trooper from the day before. He wrote me a seatbelt ticket and turn me loose. Now coming back home I did not go down 87 I went to 81 to keep from going through so much of New York and Pennsylvania is doing the same thing right now. Both New York and Pennsylvania in the rest areas that are full service they are doing inspections and if you drive a straight truck or Hotshot your butt is getting inspected. I have never seen so many state troopers at every rest area between 25 to 30 miles doing inspection that much. I guess they're doing some kind of Blitz or something. Now in Northern Pennsylvania as I come out of a rest area going back and got in the truck APA state trooper ask me do I care if he does a quick inspection I said as long as you don't write me tickets like the other two yesterday just kind of joking around with him he laughed and said well let me see the paperwork from those two and I did and he said okay have a good day. The thing I'm wondering are we truly just under attack constantly like I feel. I do not feel safe one bit when I see an officer of any kind when I'm working because they have actually turned out to be the enemy for whatever reason. My dad was a State Trooper for 36 years. The first New York state trooper told me straight out he will do the inspection quick he just has to get in some small trucks this week. I can get over a lot of stuff but feeling like I'm being attacked because of what I do for a living it's not okay in my book. And someone with more experience than my 19 years of driving why will the state troopers not give you your inspection sticker like a DOT officer will. If I went through an inspection I want my dam sticker not just them do a jackleg performance so they can write some tickets and get it done quick for their quota. Before any you guys say they don't have quotas the first New York state trooper told me straight up they do. He said on HotShots and straight trucks it is quicker to do an inspection so that's why they like them.

In my last reply I did forget to add that these guys I'll hold their products for like I said only has a couple of big trucks in a couple of little trucks not for hire. The boss man who owns the manufacturing company did call me back this morning and said he was in I believe he said Indiana or somewhere like that watching his college play in some basketball game. I have both of my uncle's looking for a decent cab over or something that can be straightened out with a rebuild which we can do. I'm not a driver that tries to drive over time and that's honestly what got me picked out in the first place. That used to not be a big deal but after I got up that morning and started driving at 6 at 8 in the morning I started getting sleepy so I pulled over at a rest area and slept for an hour that's what got me. I drive at night most of the time and see Guy all over the road and I try to get on the radio and talk to them but 80% of people don't even have a CB in their truck anymore. And I know all of you guys have seen it where people are sleepy but they will not pull over and take a nap because they're going to lose time. This is very sad what's going on in our country and it's just all getting worse from top to bottom. All you guys be safe out there and help each other out because when it's all said and done all we have out here is each other

Yeah the cops are everywhere lately. Gotta fund the state with even more of your wages, taxes on everything you buy and sell just aren't enough, and pay all those govt. salaries to keep the police state well funded during "the worst pandemic in 100% years!"
