Start with a nice level concrete pad, put a nice piece of 1/8" (11 ga) sheet metal over it and the tranny jack won't fight you. Get yourself a helper and just do it. Not only will you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself, but you'll know what makes it tick.

I broke down one time in W VA, myself and another fellow swapped out a 13 right in the parking lot. The hardest part was getting the jack to roll nice. That thick sheet metal makes all the difference, good luck. If we lived closer, I'd come help ya do it...

 

Got home, visited my toilet, and this...

 

You could have at least parked in the driveway

 

Figured I’d walk up and try to help a guy out but the big heads are here now.
New guard rails lasted longer than I thought they would.

 

Looks slick in the first pic you posted. Kinda missed the sweeping curve did he?
