Straight pipes questions

My W900 has two factory under cab mufflers. I replaced the 5" stacks with 6" ones that have a top height of 11' , 8 3/4" . I guess the mufflers are gutted, because there is not much difference in decibels from straights, and IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even with severe hearing loss in my right ear, and moderate loss in the left, the noise level is simply too much when driving. I'm tired of hearing that roaring sound ten minutes after I get out of the truck. My next project is to replace the two pos mufflers with some decent ones.

Those of you who want straights, please think of me, a 55 yo potbellied gray haired cajun who keeps asking everyone to repeat what they just said, and apologizing for being deaf.
It's not worth it.

 

u must have a muffler in Ontario. that is if you dont want a fine. But chances are slim are fat ### cop/MTO will do anythin anyways. I drove a truck with stright pipes for a year never looked at or bothered bout it. I know couple show guys who have gotten a "no muffler" ticket its like $115 fine

 

I love the sound of straight pipes. They can be loud, sure, but it's a low-frequency sound, not like what you get out of the riced-out cars and such you encounter.

Still, I want to stay legal, so I'm looking into going with one of the under-cab mufflers suggested earlier in the thread.

If anyone has straight pipes they DON'T want, drop me a PM. I may be interested in buying them off you, or better yet trading you my stock Peterbilt mufflers.

 

Buy u straight pipes and enjoy them..........i run str8 pipes on my cummins n-14, and the sound is simply magical..........when i carry my girl to work and she starts whining i jus jake or put down my right foot abit.........if driven easily u wont be disturbed! dont listen to all the nay sayers

 

i'm in the market for a good set of used stacks also,if you're trying to sell

 

I have dynaflex 6" straights on my pete with 550 cat and it is loud if you floor board it all the time, or just pretty quiet if you ease into each gear like you should. Not near as loud as that one stack r model mack i learned drive in 25 yrs ago. out here in the wide open spaces of west texas noone seems to be too put out with the noise. I sure do like the old lonesome beller on a still early morning run.

 

where do i get a after market mufflers for 04 kw 86studio ....PP got them but they want 400 a piece with clamps...any cheaper places...

 

im sure i have two and they are huge...im just wondering if they have cats inside them...im gonna check with grand rocks see what they say...
