What was it salvaged for? Because of tornado’s, flash flood’s, and hurricane’s that happen in Texas Insurance companies total out lots of perfectly good equipment down here. A tornado takes down a shop that trucks are parked in and they may get “totaled” in on the whole property claim even without damage to them. Hurricane’s may water damage interior and cause it to get totaled. Owners want to keep them so they buy back from insurance and title gets changed to “salvage”. Once the damage is fixed and can pass inspection the title can be changed back to normal. It is not illegal to sell to anyone vehicles with a branded title as long as the buyer has had all the information disclosed to them. Auctions do this all the time.

Also a later recovered stolen vehicle that had already been written off and paid by an insurance company will also have a salvage title issued to it if owner wants to reclaim it or it is bought at a police auction. Title colors usually indicate what they were salvaged for.

The problem with the salvage vehicle is that you have no idea why it was salvaged.

So then you have a mystery on your hands. You may go down the road and have crazy electrical issues if it was flooded. You might go down the road and all the sudden realize that the rears aren't straight because the frame is bent. Who knows?

And the other thing is that anything that was salvage vehicle fixed is extremely difficult to sell.

In my opinion worth almost nothing.
