I am looking at getting into a truck driving job.
I do not have a CDL or a CLP. I’ve been looking at the truck driving school at the local community college to get some training.
I’ve also seen this fedex job advertise and it’s says that candidates should have at least a CLP when applying. Would it be a waste of time to apply for this position without a CDL or experience? Do they train newbies from the ground up?
FedEx city driver apprentice position? Is this a waste of time?

FedEx freight does offer a training program to qualified applicants who don’t yet have their CDL. Dock workers and others within the company may apply for this apprenticeship program. Driver development instructors teach candidates the skills they need to pass the written and practical CDL exams.

bzinger Thanks this. -
Yellow Corp has the same or similar program. FedEx is non-union and Yellow is Teamsters Union.

Thanks! I’m looking at YRC now too since they have a class starting soon not too far from me. I’d like to get a job where I’m home almost every night. Doing two years OTR and never being home will not work for me.

Which Fedex? Fedex isn't just Fedex anymore. What specific company are you looking at?

I have no clue how much car driving experience is required.
