Grease On Clothes

Starting fluid will take almost any grease out of clothing. Try it, but not in a closed area or around a flame.

First it is easier to avoid getting the grease on your clothes. I picked up some used coveralls at a military surplus store. They have light weight ones to heavy ones.
Next, if you do get grease on your clothes, change clothes right away and treat the stain, the longer you wait the harder it will be to get out. Dish detergent is really good for treating your stains. I have a little spray bottle with water and dish soap, so I just treat the stain as soon as possible.
I also retreat the stain and soak in cascade over night before I wash it. That has always kept my clohes stain free.
Although, 5th wheel grease is the worst, and I haven't had to deal with it yet thanks to my covies.
I also hard that the "Simple Green" spray cleaner works great, but I have not tried it.

 

Best grease remover hands down is Dawn. Just squirt a little on the stain,let it set for a few minutes and throw the article in the washer. Works on grease,grass,mud,bbq sauce, and just about any other stain. I used to wear coveralls working on the truck and got mighty greasey. Used Dawn and wallah no grease stains.

 

I've used that citrus extract cleaner many times. it smells like oranges and
it works fantastic. It will disolve the grease from just about anything.
I've used it on hats,jeans, and tee shirts.

First spray it on the spot, then get a bristle brush and work it in for a bit, then run it through the wash. You will be amazed at how good this works.
Another good thing about it is it doesn't leave any evidence like color fade.

Be sure not to wash any clothes like jeans without using some type of solvent first or the stain will most likely stay there forever.
You only get one shot before it sets pretty much permanent.

You can find the citrus extract at Home Depot or Lowes.
It works especially good on fifth wheel grease etc.
One thing for sure, it is much safer than starting fluid.

 

Maybe, but not 1/10 as good. I have used starting fluid for years. Just a few months ago my new beige hat blew off and got covered with 5th wheel and driveline grease. I put it in a plastic bag and bought a new hat. Two months later I took starting fluid to it, and now it looks like new with zero stains or spots.

Like I said, try it. You wont believe what this stuff will clean.

Another story. I tracked 5th wheel grease on our new sunroom carpet, almost white in color. Came clean as new in a few minutes.

 

When your washing machine fills with water ad your detergent and one can of Coca Cola and let soak for 15 minutes.

I was a mechanic for 21 years and all the older mechanics would due this. The only down side is the acid in the cola will fade your clothes over time, but there won't be any grease stains guaranteed.
Believe it or not some people actually drink that junk (just adding a little humor).

 

My uncle tought my this one, and for Kerosene based fuel (diesel, Jet, ect.) Tomato sauce does wonders, especially after fuel baths.
