DD15 505hp

I own 2 in western stars. one has 872k
The other 316k
No real issues, I am very proactive on maintenance and do not take chances I change parts before life cycle of said part is up. But neither has ever broke down or given me an issue.
Neither truck gets idled for very long
Def filter gets changed yearly, sensors in one boxes get pulled yearly and cleaned
And coolant gets dumped at 300k
And coolant pumped changed at 300k
Mostly due to a lack of coolant filters on
Newer DD15.
They are a good engine Life time average on one truck is 7.25 and my truck is 7.31 mpg with 4% idle time.

 

One is a 16 model my brother and his wife drive, the one in pic is a 19/20 model
Both have 18 manual transmissions

 

Find out if it was a 505 from birth, and not just turned up to 505.

 

Just look at the sticker on the top of the engine. Or get freightliner to run the Vin.

Messing with settings is the path to woe.

If it was born a 505, then how you care and drive it will be 75% of how well it lasts.
